This month's theme will be kind of cheesy and predictable...

Though I can't actually participate in this battle *pouts*, as I'm the host...

Here's my entry!
I picked my own character Darth Delicious snuggling her cat, Samwise.
With a pair of Lovebirds watching.

In my opinion, Valentine (or love for that matter) is not only for couples, but for friends and family (pets are family) too.

For pose-reference I used a picture of me and my cat, for the birds I used some from my own collection of "Fairy Tails".
Suitable for the theme, these are called the "Love Birds" from the "Love Bird Set".

"This is my submission to the CoH F'art challenge for February. The subject was 'Love'. Most folks went with the typical, Valentine's Day theme, romance, flowers, hearts, etc etc...

I decided to take a different spin as love to me (and Valentine's Day) is a lot farther reaching than that. It's love of family, parents to children and in this case, brothers and to the home you protect and the heroes that inspire you. In this case, dark Taliesen's two sons.

This is more or less a sequal to Eulogy [link] Justin is actually NOT the bigger brother in this, he's actually time travelled back to protect his older brother, Harper.

The story goes that he's been trying to avoid showing himself to his bigger brother for fear of messing up the timelines but after Statesman's death, he decided to take risk being seen to return the protective brother favor to Harper and offer him comfort and support and inspiration by showing him little signs of Stateman's enduring impact on the world. That as long as these things are still around, he'll live on to inspire other heroes.

One of those moments was to take Harper to sit on the city hall roof and reflect on the flag. Which is actually pieces of fabric from Statesman's cape in memory of the Omega team that died. It was also the reason for a long time our game had no capes and why we had to EARN them at level 20.

So this is my submission for love, brothers and in memorial to the hero that inspired both of them.

Here's My Entry! im not very good with computers so most of my art will probably be scanned images colored on my computer XD

February's Entry: "There's no one else I'd rather have at my side." It shows two heroes' sharing a moment before the onset of a ferocious battle, the likes of which they know they might not survive. Also note, as in my signature, Serpent Drummer is my boyfriend :P. That is all. Enjoy.






the scene: ...In the depths of the RWZ subterranean caverns on an information recovery mission, our two heroes find themselves spotted by a Rikti scout, who immediately calls for reinforcements.

Silver Cyclone: "Serpent?" [looking at Rikti portals]

Serpent Drummer: "Yes?" [counting the mobs spawning]

Silver Cyclone: "You know, we probably wont make it to the Spring Fling..."

Serpent Drummer: [looking at Silver with a small crooked smile] "I know... I even washed my robe... hey Silver?"

Silver Cyclone: "Yeah?"

Serpent Drummer: "I..." [the ground rumbles from the Rikti marching]

Silver Cyclone: "Will you be my Valentine?"

Serpent Drummer: "Silver..." [a huge grin breaks out upon his face] "You know that there's no one else I'd rather have at my side."

Silver Cyclone: [a tear forms] "Let's show these Rikti the strength of the Serpent and the Cyclone."

['Pew! Pew!' go the Rikti guns]

Serpent Drummer: "Lets. YEAAAAAAAAAAHH!!!!!..."
Silver Cyclone: "HAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!..."

Well I was holding off deciding whether or not to join this year (I really won't have much free time until my situation changes) but it looks like there might not be enough artz for the contest to last until the later months. I'd hate for those prizes (and all the work DD put into this) to go to waste.

Lol I figured someone would immediately pounce on that.
The forum bug logged me out when I tried to post, it's a server side issue and there's nothing I could do about it.

I have until March 29th to jump in for the contest but whatever DD wants to do about this months entry I will accept.

First of all, These are some great pieces everyone! *looks proud*

Unfortunately I can't put your piece up for voting as he indeed is two minutes after the deadline (that's the risk of waiting till the very last second ) And yeah, I'll have to stick with the rules as it's the only way to play it fair.
To bad you uploaded it on photobucket instead of DA. DA counts aswell afterall .
If the timestamp was right there, I could still put it up for voting, but alas *pouts*.
There is always next month! I hope you'll be joining us .

btw...do we wanna know what's in the bag? *giggles*

Anyhow, voting thread will be up later tonight when I'll be back home again (have some emergency family and friends visits to make (nothing lifethreatening, so don't worry ) or at latest tomorrow morning (eh, that's in Dutch times btw -1 ).

You know just because I'm not afraid to speak up when I see something wrong doesn't mean I'm a stickler.
There is a distinction to be made between the letter of a rule and the spirit of it.

A deadline primarily exists so that:
1. The contest can proceed in an orderly fashion (can't start the vote until all qualifying artz are submitted).
2. So no one gets an unfair advantage (i.e. you get an extra month that isn't available to anyone else).

My being logged out when I tried to post my entry didn't hold up the vote/contest in any way and do you really think
that extra 2 minutes and 15 seconds I spent trying to get my submission to go through gave my art an advantage somehow?

Not my contest though, DD says it's out so I'm out, I just resent your assumption.

lol. with me, deadlines have always been deadlines... and a simple viable explanation always seemed enough to make a reasonable exception for a miniscule extension for a particular deadline.



it usually takes me longer than two minutes to log in to CoH haha because i have a slow computer and im a slow loader and i type with one finger, so if i'd started running CoH and logging on in february i very well may not have "zoned" til march XD.



by this i mean... i don't mind the extra competition , in fact it only challenges me to try harder next time. i say let it count.



but i respect DD's decision as well and deadlines are deadlines and timestamps are many people's bane. 'member how i prematurely freaked out for january's deadline? lol

No, I just read the discription you gave on DA. And now the world makes sense again, once more .
