My shot at a new computer.

Alrighty, I've come up with a build for a new computer I'm looking at. The reason I'm posting is I want some feedback from some more technically inclined people. My budget I want to stay around $1200, but might be able to get more by sweet talking the wife.

I realize this is around that price without a OEM or a Monitor. I would like to see if anyone has better/cheaper alternatives without sacrificing quality. I want to be able to play CoH on Ultra, and be able to upgrade this computer over the years.

(The case is so big just because I want a biggie)

Case: $159.99

I would look at DDR3-1600 memory. The Cas 9 ones are similarly priced (within $5).

The Hyper 212 EVO is the "new and improved" version of the 212 Plus. They've basically flattened the heat pipes so there isn't any filler aluminum block between them where the heatsink contacts the CPU.

CoolMaster has great cases but I do not know about their PSUs. Me, I would look at Antec right. Other than that, nice system sire!

hmm.... OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer. (Also Office of Emergency Management....)
Did you perhaps mean OS?

Ouch! If money is at all an issue, you should be able to save a few bucks here. Please note, I'm not saying get a cheap power supply. In my last build, my case was $150 and that INCLUDED the power supply - Antec 900 case with a 650W Antec PSU. Look for some combo deals on NewEgg.

Embarrassing mistake...bah...

Thanks for the tips guys...made the ram changes, and might pick up the PSU at MicroCenter. NewEgg now only has it as a combo, and was going to go with Amazon. I was thinking this combo for the Case and PSU

Anymore thoughts? I did really like that PSU though..

EDIT: Going with an Intel MB I think...

Yeah it's pushing my price up, but not sure on it yet...

This is what I did for a discount on memory and a PSU. (Edit: You need to add the combo to your cart to see the full discount)

This is the Cooler Master I use if you can stand not having a full tower. It's a great case!

There's also a mid tower version of your HAF case.(not as pretty)

Bundle your MB with Windows 7 64 bit OEM and save $7

I'd also think about going the Z68 chipset instead of the the P67, and switching that hard drive for an SSD. It's way over priced right now.

Alienware / Dell has a tower with much of what your asking and a bit more for 1299. It comes with a 1 year warranty which a build at home might not come with along with the hassle of trouble shooting your problems. What I would suggest is for another 100 bucks you can go to square trade and they cover your machine for 100%.

My friends laptop died on him and since he had it for a few years they could not get the parts to repair it. At the time he paid 1200 for it. Guess what since they couldn't get it fixed so they gave him the cash for a new one which was 1200. He paid the extra 500 bucks at the time and added a solid state drive. He updated his square trade warranty to reflect the solid state drive and paid 30 bucks more.

Nice thing about square trade someone could drop a brick on your computer or toss it in a pool and its covered.
