Soft capping a fortuna

So I'm now rolling up a fortuna. I'm building her just for iTrials at the moment, and then I'll see how she does in the rest of the content. My aim for her are as follows:

-Soft capped to M/R, maybe AoE.
-Perma mind link for running iTrials, especially MoM.
-some controlling abilities, maybe a bit of back up taunting
-A constant stream of ranged psi damage.

Now, I've been fiddling around with a spec, can't seem to get above 30% to all. Is it possible to have this or should I just get close and use purples in situational where they are needed?

It is definitely possible. Here's my Fort build, just as an example.

OK, I've been playing around. Got a fortuna I'm happy with.

I dropped the idea of tanking, but I do have a pet to take the alpha strike, I think perma hasten and mindlink. Maybe perma pet aswell. I'm not sure. Does Hasten stack for recasting itself? So you need to get a lower recharge than cast rate with hasten running?

So far, the upsides I can see. High recharge. A good stream of Psi damage attacks, soft capped, a pet, lots of psi damage.
Any suggestions to improve her or whatever? I'm thinking of running either cardiac or spiritual cores. Cognitive Radical interface. Either Arachnos, Seers or Warworks, but I'm leaning towards Warworks. They are ranged DPS, right? For the destiny, ageless of course to help with the regen.

Hasten does not stack, even if you get the recharge below 120s, but its recharge is improved by its own buff, so it looks like you've got perma.

A few little things: You've got two too many 6.25% recharge bonuses. The membranes in Mind Link won't work once the HO changes go live. You could move that plain Def from Hover to TT:M and gain half a percent of defense.

I found that endurance was becoming a serious problem as I approached 50 and got several big expensive powers (Psychic Wail, Aura of Confusion, Dark Obliteration) on top of all the toggles. So yeah, you will definitely want Cardiac or Ageless. Personally I went Cardiac so I could use Rebirth.

I thought it was only the membranes that gave 33% defence debuff and defence buff were being changed to only debuff?

That's happening also. Specifically, HOs will only enhance aspects of powers that specifically take that kind of enhancement. So Enzymes will only enhance defense in powers that debuff defense, and in this case, Membranes will only enhance recharge in powers that accept recharge enhancements, which Mind Link doesn't.

You don't need any KB protection IOs at all, Indomitable Will covers that.

Your end usage looks worryingly high, considering that your attacks aren't slotted with a lot of end reduction. That might not be an issue if you've already got Ageless, though. You have very high recharge, and perma ML/Hasten, even without Spiritual, you might consider Cardiac instead? Or possibly Agility, since the heal bonus in Spiritual isn't doing much for you.

So any more feedback?

This is the build I plan for my fortunata if I ever lever her, she has perma hasten/mind link, I went with mu mastery since robots resist psi, but they are usually weak vs energy, I gave her the aid pool since they lack healing, If you don't like psi tornado or the shackles, feel free to put something else that gives 6.25% recharge and it should be the same.

I've got myself a build I like now. I am right now scourging up all my hero merits to buy the stuff for it.

Here it is. Perma hasten, mind link, good ST attack chain, active defence, and I can afford it.

I'm thinking of slotting for the ATIO in Dominate when it comes out but I am not sure. I mean, the proc will only really fire off on bosses/EBs/AVs/GMs, and dominate is a good attack power.

Any suggestions for Widow incarnate? I'm going cardiac core, pyronic, warworks. Not sure for destiny, either rebirth or barrier with res. Not sure for interface either.

My experience with widows is close to zero, but here is some food for thought, I would change the slotting in the ST confuse (putting there the purple set, so it can be turned in a semi aoe confuse) and the aoe one (which doesnt really need the proc, and can use the damage proc for more aoe damage)

ATIO causes fear and tohit debuff? If so, don't waste it in Dominate. Dominate is too good of an attack. Can you slot ATIO in an aoe attack? If so, put it in Scream or Tornado then.

I suggest you run double Assault and Maneuver. You will need Cardiac. The 20% +range helps too.

As for Interface, Fortunata can really use -resistance to boost her damage. Reactive.

What's left is to normalize all Assassin Strikes and improve Stalker's old sets (Claw, MA and EM)! You don't need to bring back the missing PbAoE attack. You just need to make the existing ones better! For example, make Slice a WIDER and LONGER cone.

Question: If this will be the case. Why would IO's, like for example an Def/Rech IO would work when technically you should not be able to enhance recharge for Mind Link when Membranes enhance the same thing?

Because the devs say so,

Where? Link?

Edit: Do you mean this?

"Hamidon, Synthetic Hamidon, Titan and Hydra Enhancements will no longer incorrectly enhance attributes other than those specified by the enhancement."

Membranes specifically enhance To Hit Buffs, Defense, and Recharge. I do not see how Membranes won't boost Mind Link's recharge.

Can a red name clarify, please?

The patch notes describe the change poorly: really, what changed is that HOs will no longer enhance power attributes unless the power is flagged to accept that kind of enhancement. Mind Link doesn't (directly) accept recharge enhancements, so the +recharge portion of Membranes doesn't work.

We aren't guessing about this, or trying to interpret it from the patch notes. You can copy a Widow over to beta and see yourself: Membranes in Mind Link do not enhance its recharge.

I'll need to find the post, but red names have said that IOs are WAI and HOs weren't.

Alright.

Makes no sense to me why IO's work in this manner but HO's do not. It really should be one way or the other, but so be it.

What really kills me, isn't really the Membranes, it's the Cyto's. I assume now they won't reduce the endurance usage either.

This should definitely be possible. I have a partially kitted fortunata (I mostly play him as a NW) that is doing pretty well with defense and perma Mind Link is looming in the future. The only thing I don't care for is the lack of DDR, but I guess if you had capped DDR, you would technically be a tank mage of sorts.

Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.

"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

Hey, I didn't design the change, I'm just trying to explain how it works. I think they should just let Mind Link be slotted directly for recharge already, it's kinda silly that it can't be.

Cytos will still reduce endurance cost, though, in any power that accepts cost reduction. Burnout is the only power I can think of that costs endurance but cannot be slotted for it; in any other power, Cytos will work fine.

Mind Link does not accept regular endurance reduction enhancements.

*scoff* That can't be true, it obviously...
*checks*
...what? That's, why would they, who decided...
Well that is just weird. And disappointing.
