I mean, what do people expect from movies like this, Sucker Punch or superhero movies?
I just wanted to see a hot Kate Beckinsale kicking *****.
There is more badassery and action in this movie than any other of the saga.
She kills stuff, she shots, jumps and bite. Enough for me.
And the plot was simple but it was cool enough.
This movie was much better than Sucker Punch because it didn't even really try to have some kind of deep philosophical storyline. Sucker Punch failed mostly because it tried to mix a significant story in amongst the action. Mixing a story with action wasn't the bad part - the bad part was that the story part itself was god-awful. With a crummy story the whole thing devolved into a series of MTV-styled music videos separated by boring talky-talk.

This movie probably would have been better if they had just shown a scene of Micheal getting killed taking the proverbial bullet for Selene and just cleanly cut him out of the story completely. The whole idea of showing him just long enough to tease the idea that he might show up in another movie was just silly. Why have him appear in a possible future movie when you didn't even really bother having him in this one?

And one that wasn't used at all well. But then I only have considered Avatar, TinTin, Puss in Boots and Hugo to have been any films that thought about how to use the 3D effect rather than just slap it on for the novelty factor.

Beyond that, the crucial test for me (do I notice my butt going to sleep and I start getting uncomfortable) triggered. It's entertaining popcorn fare, but that's about it. I could drive a truck through the plot holes, but there's no point as it's not what these films are about. They're about Kate Beckinsale looking sexy in PVC leather killing things.

It succeeds.

How to Train a Dragon did good use of 3D as well.

But yeah, it was for that fear that I went to the 2D.

I went to the movies Friday night... unsure of whether I wanted ot see Underworld or Haywire. I ended up deciding to go with Haywire because the theatre I was at only had Underworld in 3D and I just knew it was going to look like crap.

And I'm not just 100% opposed to 3D. 3D done well, is awsome... done bad it's terrible. Unfortunately 95% of what I've seen is bad. I think Avatar is the only movie I've seen with live action that 3D looked good (well, that's not really much live action was it?). Animated films, however, I've found often are quite good. How to Train Your Dragon, for example, was was literly breathtaking.

I gotta make pain. I gotta make things right. I gotta stop what's comin'. 'Least I gotta try.

Disagreed because at least with Sucker Punch the action was bigger and better, there were times where I felt something for the characters involved, and it at least tried to have a story. It was still a let-down, but I'd rather watch Sucker Punch than this latest Underworld.

I might be willing to agree that the 15 or 20 minutes of action in Sucker Punch was overall cooler than the action in this latest Underworld movie. But having to sit through roughly an hour of monotonous, sappy story designed to try to get me to sympathize with totally unsympathetic cookie-cutter characters was enough to kill the whole movie for me. To me it was almost like a porn film at least as far as having to put up with some pretense of a cheesy tacked-on "story" just to get to the good parts. This is why I'd rate this Underworld better overall - at least the boring parts that led up to the action didn't annoy me as much as they did in Sucker Punch.

For what it's worth I'd happily rewatch an edited version of Sucker Punch that only showed the action sequences any day of the week. *shrugs*

Ick. I couldn't stand watching that drek of a movie long enough to get to the action. In fact I was so turned off by Sucker Punch I can't even bring myself to fast forward to the action and just watch that.

But I understand some people actually liked that movie. Go figure.

Oh. So it's it's an episode of The Man Show.

Network executive: So tell us about the show.
Jimmy Kimmel: We drink beer and watch girls jump on trampolines.
Network Executive: And . . .
Jimmy Kimmel: And what?
Network Executive: Is that it?
Jimmy Kimmel: What else do we need to get people to watch?
Network Executive: Good point. Here's your contract.

Im easy, I loved both Sucker Punch and Underworld: Awakening.

I guess I just love watching hot girls kicking ***** and dont mind if the story is bland.
Sucker Punch: Beatiful girls+Steampunk+Giant samurais+Protagonist wearing school uniform with a katana and a pistol+Awesome fight scenes= WIN!
Underworld 4: Kate Beckinsale+leather trenchcoats+badassery+vampires= WIN!
