All Access Sketch a Week

A few years ago, I did a sketch a day thread that lasted for quite a while, and now that I can post on the forums again, I would like to pick it up again but at a more sane pace. I figure a sketch a week should work.

So post a nice screenshot or two and a short bio of your character and if I like it(or there's not enough volunteers) I'll do a quick sketch.

No promises that I will draw YOUR character, but it's free and it's a chance for Freemium players get some art for their toons. VIP's are invited to post their toons as well.

And if any artists feels like joining in, please do! More art for everyone!

I will occasionally draw something silly and goofy, so if you do not want to see your character in a tutu, do not post them in this thread.(Until they implement the tutu costume piece, in which case, I will draw everyone in a tutu because they are cooler than bowties.)

I also make my own art, but I like seeing the other styles that different artists use, so here's a shot of me walking in Atlas Park:

And me with some unexpected and not very welcome help:

I'm a VIP, and I don't really have a bio - I'm just me, but with superpowers - so feel free to accept or reject these screenshots

This is Fiery Havoc. She is a doctor by day, a superhero also by day (because doctors are heroes, as much as one might not think so while they are actively poking and prodding you ), and occasionally by night as well (when her rounds at the hospital don't keep her from patrolling). She's the daughter of a half-demon and a sorceress, and as such has tremendous magical power of her own. She's also a big fan of random trickery, and has no end of fun hacking into databases and replacing otherwise unimportant things with bits of Rikti shopping catalogs, information stolen from various villainous computer systems (it's what they get for connecting to the internet at large!), and bits of useless information.

Inquiring minds should look for clues in the picture, and then follow them to a more suitable area of the forums

Some of us work for a living and can only spend a finite time on the boards, and that doesn't include looking for clues. If you don't want to help, well nothing I can do about that. Therefore, I guess I'll find out in due time. Thanks anyway.

Well, I've been a grump this year, so I'm not sure if I deserve such a present, but as long as we're throwing our hats in the ring, I should probably include Xanta - the one character I've always wanted to have artwork done of the most

I approve of the idea, and thank you for your community spirit

*edit*
Right, backstory, I completely forgot!

Xanta is the result of what you might get from a true-breeding member of the Trolls, and a science experiment, at that. When the original science group behind the Superadine extra-dimensional sight research was busted, not all of the scientist were accounted for. At least one escaped justice, and spent the next few decades continuing the experiments. As the city's most heavily-influenced Superadine users, this scientist focused on the Trolls, kidnapping them, experimenting on them and eventually killing them. He managed to get them to produce a child, which he kept in captivity for very much her entire adult life, testing her strength and resilience.

Eventually, the Tolls proved to be quite incapable of extra-dimensional sight, and also incredibly dangerous. A group of them broke into the scientist's lab and killed him, allowing Xanta to escape into the world. For years she lived as the "monster child" of a group of homeless refugees living in a Troll-infested neighbourhood, where she would act as their protector from the violence of the trolls, until the city finally managed to relocate them and provide homes for these people many years later. Before they parted ways, her adoptive father, himself a "mystic smith" made for Xanta a set of enchanted armour and a weapon. Though nigh-on unbreakable, these are incredibly heavy and unwieldy, but Xanta seems to manage just fine.

Though her years of torture and bondage have made her merciless and brutal, her life as the kind protector of people too weak to look after themselves has helped Xanta channel her rage into the far more productive venue of keeping the whole city safe from monsters like the ones who stole her life and violence like the kind which nearly stole her family.

Yay! Alex is back! Good to see ya, buddy!

Most of my ref-ready characters are available on dA via the banner in my sig.

I haven't made a ref of Sav's latest costume, but here's a pic.

And here is her Praetorian counterpart, Gutwrench:

Bio
Growing up in First Ward, Savannah quickly learned how to fight to survive. The most important lesson she learned was to use whoever was handy. In time, she found a way out of First Ward through Loyalty to Emperor Cole.

Of course, she's just biding her time, waiting for the perfect opportunity to use Cole to get ahead.

The Samurhinoceros, a benevolent being of immense, cosmic power accidentally summoned back to the mortal plane by a four year old girl. Best not-so-imaginary friend ever.

Unfortunately, there's no Kanabo option for Titan Weapons, and I can't actually make him 12-15' tall in-game, but that's him.

ALEX!!!!! *glomp*

How's it going buddy? You *know* I have to toss my chance in, so I'll throw in not my own character, but that of a friend who's birthday is Jan 28.

He's a merc/assassin trying to walk the good side.

I completely forgot to do it originally, but I have added backstory for Xanta now. It should be fairly accurate to her in-game bio, but I wrote it from memory.

I will not be posting here (except for this lol) but I am working on a big project character to be started around i22. This thread has challenged me to do my own drawings and perhaps paintings of the character. Thank you very much. This will take some time, and I am jealous of my creations, but maybe I will end up posting them on the board sometime. Thank you.

Here's Samurhinoceros! I loved the bio, and the concept is very cool, and I don't recall ever drawing a Rhino in Samurai armor before. I do confess that I had to google Kanabo.

Hi to all my friends from the art forum! Lots of cool characters so far!

Hey Alex,

Good to see you reviving your old sketch thread here on the forums!

He is a clone of the Statesman created by the Revanant Hero Project for the purpose of building an army of incarnates. While the clone has no superpowers he does have the potential to reach incarnate levels of power. The clone was taken into custody by the Peacemaker supergroup before Crey could unlock his full potential and create duplicates from this template.

Pick a sketch if the mood strikes you, or a mini-sketch with two or all three!

Captain-Electric

Scientist. Technologist. Genius. Despite his power to command the full force of electricity, the courageous Captain-Electric (Elliot Warner) lives by an old-fashioned code, preferring to take on crime and corruption with inventive solutions.

He's been at it for some time. Twelve years ago near Dallas in Duncanville, Texas, at the age of 10, a science accident gave rise to both his and his arch nemesis's powers. His father (physicist Alan Warner of Parallel Power Systems) built an experimental micro-portal to a negative dimension that imploded, twisting him into a living conduit for negative energy: Dark-Eyes.

The boy Elliot, visiting that day on a school field trip, destined to become super powered, was exposed to positive energy discarded from the collapsing portal's event horizon. The event perfected his nervous and synaptic pathways with untold "Power Positive" and intelligence--cursing him with supreme optimism, making him incapable of any apathy, or even much fear.

Soon a dark entity revealed itself to Dark-Eyes as the conqueror supreme of the newly discovered dimension, seizing on his corrupt mind from across the dimensional barrier to prepare our dimension next for its arrival. But before losing his grip on his humanity entirely, Dark-Eyes struck a deal with the entity--his unswerving service in return for the safety of those he once loved.

The next day, news stations from all over the country clamored to the edge of the crater where the entire town of Duncanville, Texas had vanished. Sealed into an idealistic, artificial 1950's-style pocket dimension of Alan Warner's imagining and his dark master's creation (the Retroverse), Captain-Electric (and 20,000 others) would not remember Primal Earth, or discover his way back, until young adulthood.

At 22 years old, he arrived in Paragon in 2009, on the trail of Dark-Eyes, the arch nemesis he hopes to see redeemed.

Detective Marvel

Dark-Eyes

Corrupted by the darkest reaches of his research, this scientist is a twisted shadow of his former self. Twenty years ago, an experiment gone cataclysmic is thought to have given rise to both himself and his greatest enemy, the superhero CAPTAIN-ELECTRIC. Although respected and environmentally active during his career, his first act as a supervillain was to cash in on every investment, invention and savings account in order to pay off (or otherwise silence) collegues who might connect DARK-EYES to his original identity.

Alex, that rocks! You snagged the Malevolent side of Mally and cold-hearted Cid's irritation at the playful fae.

What happened to a sketch a week? I see two sketches

Seriously, though, both of those are amazing, especially for... What, a day? That's amazing work, and an amazing range of concepts. Samurhinoceros is a straight-face serious enough of a sketch to have come out of something like a D&D monster manual, while Cid and Mally look almost like an edgy animated show with lots of character Good job covering such divergent angles so well.
