Thugs/time or mercenaries/time?

So I'm trying to help a friend build an MM and she's stuck between mercenaries or thugs with time manipulation as the chosen secondary.

Anyone have any good builds for either or potential rolls? I apparently suck at building MMs myself.

Thugs are considered the current best set, I believe. I may love the crap out of my Mercs, but Thugs are just overall better.

As for builds...depends. I think Dechs has a good guide floating around out there, even if I do disagree with his opinion on personal attacks.

I have a Thugs/Time beast AV killer. I would say that using Double Gang war has to be one of the most fun powers I have ever used in the game. Don't even talk about adding some Lore pets like the Cims, things become really tough on the enemy.


The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Another vote for Thugs/Time being better. Besides being an all-round better set, Thugs Enforcers add +defense, which will stack with the +Def from /Time.

Yes it works; I find it amusing on my Thugs/Thermal to summon a double Gang War and set them all on fire.

I just rolled one as well because I have been on an MM kick lately. I have had this character around for awhile that had Thugs/Thermal but just wasn't as much fun for me as my /traps MM's. I decided to re-roll him into a Thugs/Time and rather enjoying it. Like you, I do take at least one personal attack, usually the cone attack but other then that, I don't really have any builds as of yet. I haven't decided on defense strategy for him quite yet.

I do know this may be the only /Time character that I have where I will take every power available.. between that and Thugs, Hasten/Speed/Burnout, there really isn't much room for power or epic pools at first glance which is why I can see people skipping the attack powers.
