Burnout for controllers
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm considering taking it on one of my Plant Controllers . . . Plant relies heavily upon Seeds and Creepers, and if you have used both, you have to wait a while for them to recharge. If you get some Adds or an ambush, you have to find a different way to deal with the new foes. Burnout might let me get Seeds and Creepers up fast in an emergency. I could see it being useful for a Mind Controller, too.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I think it depends a lot on the Controller... on something like a /Cold it could allow you to essentially reroll a missed Benumb that happened at a bad moment, and the endurance hit wouldn't really affect you.
I've specced into it twice (illusion/radiation, plant/storm), and specced out of it each time. It seems like whenever I could really, really use it, I never have the endurance for it, and if I have the endurance for it, I have other options available.
I considered it for /storm too. I've already got the recharge to double up on Tornado and Lightning Storm. It would be quite something to have 3-4 out.
I've used it to have carrion creepers out more often or to have 2 spirit trees out. However, the recharge on burnout is really long, so it's good to use on tough fights, but it's not at all good if you wanted to use it often. Keep in mind that it'll only work on your primary and secondary powers - not on your PPP or the like. I have it now, but will likely respec out of it soon.

-Playing since COH beta and still love the game!
I don't see how Burnout will help you with Creepers, at least if you have them perma. Once you summon new CC, the old ones go away.
I can see it being sort of helpful for Vines. Personally I tend to hold Vines in my back pocket for those situations since Seeds does recharge rather quickly. Still, I wouldn't take Burnout unless I were at level 49 and just did not know of anything more compelling (there usually is).
Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

Besides, it takes a fair amount of Recharge to get Creepers perma, and not everyone has a fully IO-ed out build as soon as they reach 50. Later on, once you have all those Recharge bonuses, Burnout may not been needed as much.

Thugs MM's rock using this power for double gang war. I don't trollers getting a lot of use out of the power.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

Or maybe turning a Vengeance/Fallout/Mutation trifecta into Vengeance/Fallout/Burnout/Fallout/Mutation/AM. So you buff your team, double-nuke nearby enemies (should kill all but the hardest targets), then rez and buff your teammate.
Is burnout useful to take on a controller?
I like the idea of being able to recharge the long lead time powers like pets or the AoE holds, but the recharge on burnout is so long that you have to be really judicious as to when you use it so you don't waste it (basically when you only made a clear mistake in the original application of the power and risk team wipe/failure)... aka it becomes very situational. I'm considering it for a /kin controller so the endurance cost is not a huge issue thanks to Transference. |
Dark Control... Double Haunt using Burnout may be possible? Not sure if its a power like Gang War or they are considered actual pets. If its the former than double Haunt should be possible which means you can spawn 4 Ghost instead of 2 which would overwhelm a target.
Someone please correct me if this is not possible because this sounds fun and powerful.
