Ice/Storm/Stone question
The disorient in fissure is so unpredictable I'm not so sure the combination would be as reliable as say on an earth or fire troller that have primary powers with stuns.
Did you mean hurricane or tornado? Tornado is used more as a damage/pet power but does have debuffs and hurricane primarily a debuff. Either way I'd skip clap.

Thunderclap is only Mag 2 and it is PB AoE. I like it on characters who have another Stun power for stacking (Earth, Grav, Fire), but I find it skippable on my Ice/Storm. At Mag 2, it only hits Minions.
Tornado (if that is what you really meant) is much better considered a Damage/Chaos pet power than a debuff. I admit that I have Frostbite on my Ice/Storm specifically because of Tornado, but even without Frostbite, I would still take Tornado. (I have it on my Ill/Storm, who does not have an Immob at all.) Why? When things get hairy, Tornado will throw foes all over the place, giving you a chance to escape/heal/hibernate/whatever. Tornado is AUTOHIT, so it can take down those Paragon Protectors who just fired off MOG. And best of all, Tornado is a lot of damage on an AV or other tough target that can't be knocked back. Very useful, if situational, power.
You have both Softcapped Ranged and S/L. I don't find that EITHER ONE is necessary, so I would say that much Defense is more than enough. Personally, I would go with one or the other (probably Ranged) and not worry about the other. With that much Defense, you may have made trade-offs that I would not want to make. Hurricane's ToHit Debuff should take care of any foes in melee, so I would be more concerned about Ranged Defense.
LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

Agree with the above posters, Tornado over Thunderclap. I'd only consider going TC over Tornado in a build specifically designed to stack and stun spawns. And even then I'd likely be looking at skipping some other choice while looking to keep both TC and Tornado in the build.
Having capped S/L and Ranged plus Hurricane should be quite ample defense in the vast majority of cases (especially teamed).
Hey all, long time reader, first time poster. I'm at work so I can't post my build right now, my ice/storm/stone only has room for thunder clap or tornado and I was wondering what the other stormies out there think would be better. Should I take clap to stack disorients with fissure or nado to debuff, keep in mind i don't have frostbite in my build so I can't plant the baddies and use nado as an aoe. One last thing, I have 45 s/l def and 45 ranged def, is that enough protection. Thanks in advance for the responses I can post my build later when I get home if necessary.

45% Def to both Ranged and S/L is more than enough, however for most Praetorian content the number to reach is 59%. (No. I personally don't recommend that you try to reach 59% Def with IOs.) Considering your selection of sets, I could easily see achieving softcap to S/L. I am intererested to see how you pulled off softcapping to both and what tradeoffs you made to get there.
Thanks for the replies guys, I'll try to post my build (hope it works, new to mids). I just came back to coh after a long break, I haven't played since before IOs so feel free to give me some pointers. Since the fissure+thunder clap doesnt work I have no problem changing my APP if anyone out there has a better suggestion. Thanks again everyone.

Now as far as a melee centric damage power goes, fissure is nice. We're just saying that we wouldn't rely on it as a source of disorient and therefore don't see the point of thunder clap. The only issue I see with ice is less of a desire to use your aoe immobs to set up containment if you are relying on ice slick as your primary source of mitigation.

I recently came back to the game as well and this is my Ice/Storm/Stone spec. I went for a more proc heavy build while simultaneously building for defense. The recharge on the debuffs/summons leaves something to be desired but the spiritual core should help. I don't have the pvp proc yet but already i can play very aggressively with her. At level 50 I hardly use ice slick at all, usually I open with frostbite->FR->fissure->summons and repeat while AA gets lucky ticks on mobs.
