Timers in UI

Hey everyone,

I'm a new player, and I was wondering if there is a way to get timers on things in the user interface? I can live with the slow growing/ballooning of the stuff in the action bars, but I now have Rage on my Super Strength toon and it's very annoying not to have an estimate ho long it will last, until it starts blinking for the last 10 seconds or so, especially because it gives such a large debuff after running out.

You could try using a program called Hero Stats, in that you you can toggle what you want to see or not, and it also comes with timers.

Too many 50's to list here's a few you may know.
Slazenger, Area51, Area53, Area54, Erruption, Mind Plague, Thresher, Sheath, Broadside, Debt

Like Slazenger said I think HeroStats is going to be your answer here. It's a third party utility that's been well established in the community for years and will give you all sorts of "number" information like that.

Just as a FYI the original mindset of the game was always geared toward being very "non-numbers" oriented. The original lead designer of the game had this weird notion that most players not only didn't want exact info like you're talking about but that we did not need it at all. While it's technically true that you can in fact easily play without exact info like this it's annoying to some people that timers like you're talking about weren't part of the original game.

Over the years the Devs of this game have changed their minds on this have have started allowing us to see much more hard numerical data than we used to get. The people who created HeroStats did much to fill the gap and now the Devs basically accept it as almost a default part of the game for those people who want to use it.

P.S. Just in case you aren't aware the Paragonwiki has become the default user's manual for the game. It's got pretty much everything you'll want to know.

I'm running the Mac client. Looks like I'm out of luck as far as the HeroStats tool is concerned.

As I said, I don't mind so much for the cooldown on the powers, with the growing circles it works well enough. It's just the buffs. For the inspirations it's just a bit annoying, for the Rage buff it means living or dying in a challenging fight.

Thanks for the replies anyway.

When you've played long enough you subconsciously learn the timing on things well enough regardless.

As far as the HeroStats on Mac vs PC thing goes even the people like me who have access to it on PCs didn't have it for the first few years this game existed. To this day, almost 8 years later, I don't really use HeroStats to any regular degree myself. *shrugs*

I use Super Strength a lot. (currently soloing all Blueside using a SS guy). Here is what I do. I monitor the attack bonus. I put the little window right above my attack tray. when the bonus goes red (-9900%) I stop hitting my main attacks. You can put a monitor for these on your UI by (trying to remember without UI on this comp) hitting the Powers at top of basic powers tray. Then hit attributes I think. Then look for Damage Bonus. Find it, and i think it's right click to bring up the monitor option. Then drag the tiny window over to where you have your attacks powers so you don't lose track of it in huge combats.

This is the very best graphical information I have found for monitoring Rage drops.

Blue_Centurion is talking about the Combat Attributes mini-monitor window: see example (right side, above my Insps tray)

Again, on your powers tray's header bar, hit the "Powers" link to bring up the Powers window. Then hit the "Combat Attributes" link and you'll get a big window.

The Combat Attributes window shows all of your stats in real time.

If you right-click a particular stat, you can add it to the mini-monitor window. You can move it to where ever you want on your screen. You can monitor up to 10 stats. White stats are default/normal. Green is buffed. Red is debuffed. Blue is the capped value (doesn't show the extra).

Teams are the number one killer of soloists.

Thanks, I will look into that. That might be the next best thing, although I do notice the icon blinking on the character pane usually, which basically tells me the same.

I'm more worried about the defence debuff than the damage one, although it's the combination that makes for trips to the hospital, especially when teamed with my friends' blasters/scrappers.

Thanks, I'll look at it. Didn't know this option existed. How do you get the smaller map window?

Bring up you map (press "M"). You can resize it by hovering around the edge, and the resize cursor comes up. Click and drag.

You can move it as well. Looking at the example posted, on the lower section of the map, left side, there is that dark circle. I believe by default, it is filled in, making it static to the nav-bar. If you click uncheck it (as in the example), and you can click and drag to the desired location.

Thank you, Champion.

Click the blue dot on the left corner of the map window to detach it (standard for most game windows), then do whatever you want to the window.

The blinking icon is in the upper right, away from the action. i keep the little damage bonus right over my combat tray (i keep one bottom center for all my attacks) When my dagae turns red I immediately shift to vet attacks, or combine insp, or eat a blue, etc.

Now, do you know when you stack Rage the defense crash goes away? Its not a hard power to stack, so look into that. Your damage still goes to crap for 10 secs, but your survival stays smooth.
