I don't think you can go straight from pram to itinerant. That's like saying sun is a synonym for moon because they are both heavenly bodies.

Hmm, I kinda agree - I can see Buggy > Pram > Stroller > Itinerant - there's just a skipped step. My own example of a step that might be skipped played off of a different pronunciation of an already posted word - 'Read' could be "reed" or "red"... Come to think of it, that's actually a rather rare connection, I'm not sure how many other words could be used that way.
