SS/Invul Brute Advice

Below I have the planned build for my SS/Invul Brute Total Violence. This is my first and fave character and I love how he plays but now I find myself looking for that 'OMG you did THAT?' sort of appeal. I'd like advice from the Forum but I have a few caveats:

1) No Purples. I refuse to buy them and if they drop, they drop. He currently has none.

2) I'd like to keep the Kinetic Combat sets as the only real expensive stuff he has (no PvP stuff in other words). I'm not a Marketeer and don't want to be one just to build a character.

3) I hate running out of End. At the moment he has his Cardiac Alpha T4 and Reactive Interface and I'm pretty happy with those.

I know I'm asking a lot but given these parameters how would you rate this build? I want to be able to roll him into most regular content on +4/X8 (my first to do so) and be able to go to town. So...what do I need to change?

Thanks in advance.

Here's, more or less what I have on a Brute of mine right now.

Currently the PVP IO you see in the build isn't there and I'm debating whether it's really necessary. He's ridiculously tough as-is right now and I've only just started really getting anything more than basic Alpha slots on him.

His schtick thus far is:

  1. Pop Rage
  2. Pop Frenzy
  3. Spring Attack into a group
  4. Foot Stomp (at this point most minions are dead or trying VERY hard to get that way)
  5. Lay into a boss with ST attacks.
  6. Foot Stomp Again (at this point minions should all be dead and LTs should have major hurtage).

Note that I took LBE instead of Hurl. This is personal preference. I just like the fact that I can use LBE even in flight, whereas Hurl doesn't work once your feet come up off the ground. That and the LBE recharges and animates roughly 33% faster keeps damage mostly equivalent.

Yeah LBE was a tough call there since it takes the same sets, looks cool and I can shoot LASERS out of my EYES! I took Hurl to HAVE a ranged attack but I'm not bound by law to keep it. Thanks for the tips.

One consideration in favor of Hurl is that it is also -fly.

For me, that was enough reason to keep it in my build rather than LBE. YMMV

I use both laser eyes and hurl on my SS/Invul build. I won't post it, it doesnt meet your parameters at all. But even if you took a lot of stuff off from mine he should be ridiculously healthy. Also, keep in mind there are 2 efficient ways to get a =3% Def pvP i/o. One is Hero/villain A-merits. The other is Incarnate trial merits.

Also, you can buy "tuned" Kin Combats (and a few other sets that fit well on a SS/Invul Brute) from the paragon market. For a few real dollars invested you can have a really nice build out. personally I like the tuned I/Os for characters I enjoy, for many reasons. I wont throw them on trial/concept builds cause they are a pain to move from toon to toon.
