I imagine he was captured sometime between the last episode and this one, or else that was actually a flashback sequence.

Well, yeah, those are the only real options, but my question came more from a slight irritation that there was no explanation. I'm sure one will follow and I don't mind a tease like that, but some context or explanation would be nice.

I'm not sure how I felt about the finale. Seemed to just meander along.

But I figured Sherlock had talked to Molly and had her provide his "corpse". And I didn't get a good look, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was Sherlock that knocked down Watson.

Incidentally, if there was no "Key" then why would Mycroft have been interrogating Moriarty? I think Mycroft was lying to Watson. Was he in league with Sherlock, or was he the true evil mastermind all along?

I'd buy that if he'd been interrogated *after* the "proof" of the key's existence.

It occurrs to me, after a bit of thought about last night's finale, that it's essentially the same story as the last episode of Doctor Who namely, 'the world must think me dead so I can complete my work'.

I'm a bit annoyed I've drawn that parallel now. I hope Moffat's not running out of ideas.

Actually, I like the idea that Moriarty is the creation of Mycroft so he can mess with his brother but that would be a much darker Sherlock and not sure that the series really supports that premise.

This is a service-oriented business, and it's all
about keeping the player happy over the long term.
So you have to listen and pay attention. If a large
portion of your playerbase is screaming about
some change, you be wise to listen. - Raph Koster

Can I just say...can I?
Reichenbach?

All my feels.
I mean I knew going into watching it what was going to happen, between the internet loving to ruin things for people even when you avoid spoilers and just being able to tell where the story was headed but I was in tears at the end and I nearly shoved my hands into my mouth at the climax.

Though Moriarty's actions completely shocked me.

Not to mention the original story being over a hundred years old.
