Blaster Manifesto
Figured this an appropriate spot, aftering playing my Rad/Fire through some amazing TFs today, I just came to say I
Dreaded Wail hits things freakin' hard.. i like to hit things freakin' hard... so.. id go Wail... SAVE THE WAILS!!!! - Solar_Lunata
Most powerset combos have one offensive set and a defensive set; as a blaster, I have two offensive sets! (Fire/Elec/Flame)
@Joshua.
To make another short note on Knockback (Yeah, horse isn't dead enough) I really dislike it. Love KnockDOWN, hate KnockBACK. It's not that I don't think there isn't a use for KB, it's that when I'm on a team I want all the meleers and mobs bunched up together. This A) gives the meleers the most bang for their buck (+To Hit for Inv, +Regen for WP ect) while B) also having the mobs right tight together and ripe for AoE attacks from everyone else. This includes Blasters without KB.
It's like my Dark/Dark Defender. Before most TFs begin I kindly ask everyone that if they must die to at least die in a pile. Usually in a joking manner.
Even so, with my FF/Eng Defender on groups I tend to just stick to ST attacks and use AoE as either an opening attack or up agianst a wall.
...
Which reminds me, I need to play him more.
But we still catch flack from time to time from some circles. What’s that? You don’t like when I do Knockback? I’m sorry Mister ‘Uber DPS Purple Build’, I guess your stats will suffer because you now have to walk 20 feet to hit your target. Oh, by the way, while that guy is lying in a heap there in the corner, he’s not shooting at you…or me…or our team mates. Think about that the next time I put the Ruin Mage into a wall and send him bouncing so he can’t cast Tremor on all of us.

My life is a blaster is that of a glass ARMADA.
When i see a group, I fire all of my cannons full force and send them reeling.
When my cannons are re-loading I'm up in their face for some on the edge melee. Nothing is more fufilling than a point blank power burst to the face of a target. Some people say that's crazy, I say BRING IT!
Although a blaster always walks that fine line between face down or face up, they are a force to be reckoned with. Hell, my blaster faceplants faster then a dead koala falling out of a tree, but that never stops him.
Death is my weapon, and my ultimate tool. By dying, i provide myself with recon, and a new target for the next volley from my armada. By dying, I prevented the angry mobs from hitting my team-mates before me. By dying, I learn how to truly SURVIVE!
To those who consider the blaster to be damage/damage-
Every blaster set has its own type of mitigation. If you play fire, your mitigation is pure damage. I concede my point, carry on blasting. This isn't true of every other primary, though. Not by a long shot. A proper electric primary build will have you sapping entire mobs of everything that's not got AV-level regeneration (including most Giant Monsters), while still offering a hard control option and an end-draining pseudopet. Ice has slow, dark makes them less likely to hit you, etc, energy has knockback.
That's exactly what it is, a mitigation tool. When used as such with a team, you can fire away to your heart's content. If you have tactical forethought to use it as a mitigation tool rather than just insisting on shooting at the tank's pile, no one in a team will mind it. If you focus your knockback powers on keeping the support clear of aggro, no one will mind it. When you play in a team, you have to be willing to make certain considerations of synergy. You don't have to completely forgo using these powers, you just need tactics.
TL;DR - Knockback good. Sometimes.
