Did Freedom remove low level missions from CoV?

Slight noob (at least to the forums). I've started playing CoV and created a couple of characters. I started CoH months ago before the move to Freedom so I have some villains still in Breakout. It seems like there's only 1 mission now (from Kuzmin, think that's his name) for any beginner. Kalinda http://cityofheroes.wikia.com/wiki/Kalinda is listed as level 1-4 and you need her to get intro'd to Mongoose. But, she never talks to me, even when I used an old character that was still in Breakout and talked to the pilot (who is supposed to introduce her and did so before I left).

This makes CoV REALLY boring as there's now only a single mission path forward from levels 1 to 4 (maybe 5 or 6...). Are there other low level missions that can be done in Mercy to make it a little more entertaining for starting characters?

I miss the snake missions at low level too.

The mission where you get to save the Arachonos guys and they help you was what hooked me. Sad to think my new chars can only do it later through Oro.

Personally I miss Doctor Creed, he was way more interesting than Doctor Dwight K. Schrute.

And to actually answer the OP question. No there do not seem to be other arcs anymore. Unfortunately it is the same blueside with no origin specific arcs anymore.
It is why I sewer run until the mid-teens to at least try and get to a poinit where I can go different paths with my toons. Though it still falls into Midnighter's>Faultline>Talos more often than not.
Occasionally I dip into IP but the old school style of having contacts in the very edges of the map soon breaks me.

My grumble: they took out variety in early levels, but left in the 'Go talk to the' .... missions that are completely out of context blueside. Either sending you off to Hollows or to talk to the Warburg liason. Embarrassing when you are running a team and that is all you can pick up from every contact.

I miss Doctor Creed too.

He was the set up and Vernon Von Grun was the punchline.

Hey ho.

Everything on Mercy has gone the way of the origin specific missions in Atlas Park (and the now gone Galaxy).

I would like to have the option of playing the older arcs. I liked them. For now, I just street hunt up to about lv 5 then hop a ferry out to port oakes where things are back to normal..

I noticed you used the wikia wiki to get your information. Although understandable, due to it coming up first in google, that wiki is no longer regularly updated by the community. It also occasionally tries to give you malware. Instead of Wikia, go to http://wiki.cohtitan.com/ aka http://paragonwiki.com/. The information is much more up-to-date and comprehensive.

As regards Kalinda and Mongoose (and Matthew Burke and Dr. Creed), they have been disabled as active contacts for characters who do not currently have story arcs from them. (And possibly even for all characters.) Also, Kalinda/Matthew Burke is no longer the Cape/Aura contact. Mr. Rodney, a Goldbricker in Cap Au Diable, now handles those duties. He can easily be found via the Find Contact button in the Contact window. At this time, there are two paths to begin advancing: the contact chain starting with Kuzmin, and the Death From Below Sewer Trial.

If you're currently on a story arc from them, you can still finish it. They'll refer you on to the next contact in the line (e.g. Kalinda still refers to Mongoose), but the second contact won't talk to you. You should get assigned a level-appropriate currently-active starting contact though, one or more of the new ones.
