Supergroup management - promoting members
People have been asking for a way to invite/promote their own alts in SGs pretty much since CoV launched. The Devs have always side-stepped this suggestion by sticking to the idea that SGs are supposed to be "multi-player" grouping thus implying that they don't think we should be able to invite/promote our own alts like that.
At this point I'm not holding my breath over this. *shrugs*

I know how to promote, but, does the character to be promoted need to be online to be promoted, or can I do that any time? Since both characters are mine, it complicates it a bit, but if necessary I could have another person with promotion privilege do it, but it would be simpler if I could just do it with him not in-game. I can do with him in-game if needed since the one to be promoted is in another account, but then I'd need to run both accounts on two side-by-side computers - again, possible but cumbersome.

If the two characters are on seperate accounts you should be able to do it pretty easily. You can launch two instances of COH on one computer and just alt-tab between them. Just hit the "Play Now" button on the launcher again and choose launch a new instance. Even if this slows your computer it should be fine for this. All you need to do is open the supergroup menu click the character and hit the promote button until they get to the right rank. You can then close out of one instance.
Lothic, Flower...thanks both for the quick replies.
My son suggested the second instance solution, but I thought it was worth checking to make sure I couldn't just do it with the promotee not in-game.
Thanks again!

And it'd be really cool if we could actually see the entire list of SG's with the option to 'submit an application for entry'.
My way around this is:
I had a second account from a couple of years ago that is now considered Premium.
I got my VIP account sg leader to invite my Premium character, promoted him and now I use that Premium account character to invite my new VIP characters and promote them.
Thought I'd throw that out there incase you also have a Premium account that you've not thought about.

This as it's only a $15 investment and gives you atleast two character slots to toy with. :-p

Also, old accounts that were previously subbed are automagically Premium, even if they don't put any more money on them now. Something tells me that most old (now Premium) accounts meet the tier 2 requirements as well.

Actually, one only needs to spend $5 on a 400 point pack to get to Tier 2 on the P-rewards tree.

The NCSoft Billing system only recognizes "Free" and "Subbed/VIP"
So premium accounts show as free.

Negaduck: I see you found the crumb. I knew you'd never notice the huge flag.
WanderingAries, I bet if you log into that old account and look at the Reward Tree, it is well beyond Tier 2. Tier 2 is where an account is allowed to join SGs.

They should either add the third distinction or label it Free/Preem. I got scared for a minute. :-p
Clerical error month? Are you referring to the management page being in error? Because it's not. There are only two subscription states: either you're subscribed or you're not. If you're not subscribed, you're a free account, regardless of whether or not you've ever spent money. You're not spending money on a subscription; you have a free account.

One of my characters became the SG leader when the previous leader left the group. I've never done it before, so don't know much about how to do many things, but I'm learning as issues come up.
With another character who is the lowest rank in the SG, I wanted to store inspirations in the inspiration storage unit, but found that the lowest rank doesn't have permission to do that. There seemed two options: promote the character, or change the permissions rank. At this point, I don't want to change the permissions rank, so want to promote.
