Why take Energy Cloak on a Brute?

Maybe you can convince me to take Energy Cloak. I am building an SS/EA on mids and without the small defense from Energy Drain and with replacing Energy Cloak with Manuevers I have :

48.9 % Defense Smashing/Lethal
55% Defense Energy
45.5% Defense Negative
47.7% Defense Fire/Cold
23.7 % Melee and Ranged
22.0 % AOE
19.9% Psionic

While Energy Cloak would give me more defense to Psionic than Maneuvers I am reluctant to take a stealth power on a Brute for Fury building reasons. I dont see the logical sense of using a concealment power when I want as much enemies to attack me as possible in order to build Fury

Is there any good reasons I should take it. Does it hinder Fury ?

Yeah what Talen said. Remember EA has a good taunt aura now. The Cloak is good because it gives very good def for its end cost.

Anyway, endurance isn't much of a concern on /EA, so if you think you'll never make good use of the stealth, a case can be made for maneuvers since it helps the whole team (unless you want some other power pool, but on a EA I think only 3 are the usual ones, Speed for Hasten, Fighting for Tough/Weave and Leaping for CJ), plus you even capped negative def already.

Lol I must get that sometime, I have it on a level locked catgirl for the lulz but I never slotted it well. Since she's a claws/fire made for lowbie farming and harvesting lvl 33 IOs and lowbie ambush farms suck now (plus no desire to level her up), I gotta think of a toon I can fit that in.

As another albiet minor reason you can do actual Stealth runs to the end to TP (ATT or Recall Friend) team mates.
While you could Brute_Stealth (run past and ignore the attacks) you can often grab a mob train.
Also for some runs like in Apex or TinMage (the one with the Hydra's) the Toxic damage they pump out can be deadly so Brute_Stealth is not always an option.

As others have said however it is a nice chunck of Def for a small End Cost and it doesnt hurt Fury.

I often think of my /EA Brute as a stalker that can also Tank

Regarding Heroic Le- er, Spring Attack, the ability to get through blocked doorways is worth the price of admission alone.

As for Energy Cloak, it looks cool when you fade into view just as you're about to smash someone. Besides, the only thing scarier than a one-man army coming for you is knowing that he's coming but not having any idea where the **** he is.

's doesn't make things plural.

This++

I had recently taken Spring Attack on my scrapper and was standing at a doorway, unable to attack anything because another melee was in the doorway blocking me. Then I remembered Spring Attack is a teleport and so dropped the targetting circle in the room and <BAM> was in the room able to apply beatdown.

I started an SS/EA Brute this past Sunday and look forward to Energy Cloak because (a) it has good defense numbers and (b) looks cool (I know. . .not the best consideration when twinking out a character, but my gosh, if you can get looks cool and good value, why wouldn't you?).

Under construction

My SS/Shield brute can vouch for it, too.

Spring Attack > Foot Stomp > Shield Charge > Foot Stomp = an entire spawn of dead +2/+3 enemies that never even got a chance to shoot at you because they spent the entire attack sequence on their backs.

It's also great for alternating with Shield Charge so that you always have a way to initiate into the middle of a group for a fully saturated Against All Odds.
