Time/Fire Status Mitigation
The easy reply is get some IO's that improve your defense and make sure Time Juncture is slotted for max -to hit.
You can get power build up and hit it right before you hit Farsight. That will give you a 31.8 defense as a base to start from. TJ debuffs -23.4; This is with max def and -to hit respectively. If the mez misses you don't get mezzed.
If you IO some defense into your powers, slot up Maneuvers, and pick up CJ you should rarely get mezzed as you can easily hit the softcap using the pbu trick. This will be important as -to hit debuffs can, and will, be resisted.
Make some Break frees
Once you hit 50 get your incarnate stuff going and get clarion destiny.
Basically what Late said. Time deals with status effects by defense capping so they miss. Then carry a couple break frees to cover the rare hit. A defender with power boost/buildup and the PBD clarion is almost softtcapped with just the boosted farsight, I think it's like 41% or something , it's retarded. It actually makes it fairly easy for a defender to build for the incarnate softcap, which is 59%. This isn't absoulutely required obviously, but it's something to work for if you want.
Power Buildup is available as early as 35 now, which works for a defender depending on your secondary. My fire/time corrupter isn't quite as well off there since I want other powers for my 35 and 38 slots, so have to wait til 41 anyways.
I am nearing 50 with my Time/Fire Defender and enjoying the character very much, but I am spending more time asleep or stunned than I have on any other character I have played. Great for getting the badges, but not so good on teams. What do you all recommend to build up my status effects protection?

Thanks all. Just hit fifty and about to start a careful respec using Mids to help plan it out. Alpha is slotted Cardiac, going Clarion for Destiny and will see what I need from there. Time has been a challenging set, but I have really enjoyed it so far. Now to build it out to where the build does as well as it can on trials.
Rodion beat me to the punch- but clarion is a MUST on my defenders and corrs these days. I would strongly advise you to grab this, and put it on auto cast possibly. This is also one area where T4 is a good thing and completely worth it.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.
"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

Also will chime in and say the two biggest things that you need for status protection are to always have some break frees on your tray until you get to the T3 Clarion level of protection.
It is a playstyle that some will find odd, especially coming from other games which don't have the same mechanics, but Inspiration management is a skill in itself for CoH/CoV.
This is true for any AT. For defenders, its break Frees. For other ATs it will be Defense or Heals. Whatever you need most.
BIOSPARK :: DARKTHORN :: SKYGUARD :: WILDMAGE
HEATSINK :: FASTHAND :: POWERCELL :: RUNESTAFF

"Your trays are full," I'll say. "Didn't you use your inspirations?"
"No, I have a tray full of large inspirations and I'm saving them for when I really need them," says one.
"I think inspirations are a cheat," says another.
"I didn't think of it," says a third.
Inspirations are an important part of the game that allow you to fill the holes in your build thirty seconds at a time. They can let you do things you just can't do otherwise, like soloing EBs with lower-level defenders and controllers.
That's why I think the super and team inspirations are kind of useless. Since they're too precious to use casually, there will probably never be a time when the average player will actually use them. I know mine are still all sitting in my email box, and will probably never be used...
