New Costume Powers in the Market
Quote:
Fair enough. Once they were unique and indicated you'd been to a con/meet (or could buy them from someone who had), now they're common.
Of course, people were willing to pay $50 because of their rarity and the ability to wow your team-mates with a semi-unique ability. Now that everyone and their dog can have the costume, that aspect goes out the window.

I turned on a Hellion ToT costume that dropped on my Beam Rifle Blaster. The rifle was invisible, even when firing, while that costume was running.

They all laughed at me when I said I wanted to be a comedian.
But I showed them, and nobody's laughing at me now!

Color me not interested, especially for 480 points. I won the PPD one in some twitter contest and I never ever use it...maybe sometimes to see how a power would look with that power on but other then that I don't really see the use of these costume powers.

Good thing I didn't say (and made this point before) that there was a "flaw" in their pricing, just that the logic of "It sells for this much on eBay under completely different circumstances" is flawed.
The only "flaw" I see in Paragon Studios' pricing here is you thinking there is a flaw here.

I bet you'll win the next argument you make up in your mind as well. Have fun!

By simple logic your comment that Paragon Studios should not base their prices on what the third-party market will bear was a direct criticism of their $6 price point. If you want to try to distance yourself from the logical connection you were trying to make then more power to you.

As for "winning my next imaginary argument" I think I'll do pretty well since I do pretty well with the real ones like this.

Not being interested in a costume didn't preclude me from seeing the flaw in the "But they sell for $50 on eBay!" remarks.
You and I both know that these costume codes are not technically "worth" the $50+ dollars some people paid for them from places like eBay. And I never said that because they sold for $50+ elsewhere that Paragon Studios was automatically "justified" in charging $6 for them in their store.
But by the same token if there are in fact people out there who will pay $50+ for these things then it's a good bet there are other people who will pay at least $6 for them. If you can name me a business that would choose NOT to charge X amount of money for a completely optional vanity item when there are clearly people out there who will pay X amount for that item then I would be very surprised indeed.
You can't really equate this to something like the value of a collector comic you could buy from anyone. This is a purely "charge what the market will bear" situation coming from a sole-source vendor. As long as there are people out there willing to pay $6 for this thing that's how much Paragon Studios will charge for it and I would expect nothing less from them or any other company. *shrugs*
