Grouping

Hi, I'm returning after not playing for a good long while.
And I dont seem to see much grouping between levels 20 and 50. I'm trying to figure out what I'm missing.

Up to 20 you can always get into a Death from below run, and if you can stomach running it again a few times, you will get from 1-20 in a couple hours, and thats all well and good I suppose. But once you hit 20 or so and stop doing DFB (And I know its still good exp frankly forever, but it especially to level 30 or so), I find it very hard to find groups.

I have looked on the teaming window, but as I usually play with my fiance, I often dont have the option since you cant look for new players while in a team as near as I could tell, and even when I'm alone, that list is woefully light on people in 'lfg' mode.

And when I do see people broadcasting for groups, is pretty much always for level 50 things like incarnate trials that I cant do.

I would love to see more large groups and task forces and whatnot, but I dont know where to look.

I also recall grouping being much better for experience, which would be a nice thing as well, since I would like to see my characters hit 50 in this lifetime

Which server are you playing on? Most have one or more global channels dedicated to finding teams and/or arranging Task Forces and the like.

This.

Go to your server's forum (here on these CoH forums), say "Hi" and ask about global channels. You'll likely have several choices. Join a few, and get to know the folks on the channels. You'll find teams soon enough.

Other ideas: You CAN look for new players when you're on a team. There's a magnifying glass icon on one of the buttons. Click that to open the search dialog. If you can't find it, then the /search command is always available, even if you are not the team leader.

The help channel works almost as well as global channels for teaming. Use that in the meantime.

It sounds like you have a team with your fiance already, but in general the best way to find teams is to make them. In the 20's, Sister Psyche is a popular Task Force. Try getting a team together for that.

Also, keep an eye on the Weekly Strike Target. When it's a TF in your level range, concentrate on that. It will give you better rewards (usually double) and you'll have better luck finding folks who want to team. The weekly strike targets are listed in the Announcements section of the forums: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=251519 and also on Paragon Wiki front page http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Main_Page (look over on the right hand column).

Also, use the badges pages of Paragon Wiki http://paragonwiki.com/wiki/Hero_Accomplishment_Badges to find good arcs that other people might be interested in. You can always Flashback to run these, but some folks like to run them "live" too. You might have slightly better luck with finding teams for those missions.

And lastly, it does help if you make some friends in your level range. There's a couple of groups I seem to team with more than others, all of whom are trying to level characters in the same range as I am.

Thats some great information, thanks!

I'm on liberty, and I did join the LB channel, tho I didnt figure out how to talk in it for an embarrassingly long time.

This weeks strike target is above my level, but that page will be great when it hits.

I'll keep on looking, but making friends in my level range is hard at times because I tend to play very casually at my fiance's pace, so usually I wind up getting outleveled when I do that.

If you want to use the search to look for new people while in a group, type "/who X" in the chat window. It will open up the same search as clicking the button in the group window when you don't have a group.

I don't know why you need the letter after /who, since it doesn't seem to do much, but /who by itself won't bring up the window.

Of course, no one uses that window, so it's a largely academic point, but you can still search for people if you want.
