New to SoA. What should I build?

The defense debuff will be resisted like that, but not the resistance debuff part of it.

I am under the impression that damage resistance resists damage resistance debuffs to the damage type that the enemy already has damage resistance to.

Sure, but AVs aren't going to have 90% resistance outside of temporary resistance buffs, and resistance debuffs always work out to be a fairly flat % damage increase against target because of how it interacts with resistance.

20% resist debuff against a target with 0% resistance: takes them to -20% resistance, 20% damage increase.

20% resist debuff against target with 50% resistance: takes them to 40% resistance, 20% damage increase

20% resist debuff against target with -25% resistance: Takes them to -50% resistance, 20% damage increase

Ah cool. Thanks for the info. I've reworked the build a bit and I think I actually came up with something really fun for me. A walking Arachnos army led by the Huntsman. I took Widow, Disruptors and plan on taking the Arachnos Lore pets. Should be really fun.

So, according to your testimony a "single target crab" (which is a bit of an oxymoron isn't it?) can deliver on its own, outside of pets, incarnates or debuff procs, DPS that falls just a hair short of a top tiered night widow? Is there video of this somewhere, because I'm not sure I can believe this without seeing it firsthand.

I have done a 6 minute pylon kill on my widow, and this is pre-incarnate and I know that my melee crab just can't compete with that, but I could be doing it wrong too. But again, if a crab can dish out high end NW damage -without- pets/procs, plus run 2100 hps and killer resistance/defenses ---> I'd like to see this.

I've heard in another thread that the current rikti pylon soloing record is held by a crab spider, so I'm not too surprised.

Assuming you can afford all the enhancers in that build (I just notice one in particular that costs a lot), you're overcapping aoe defense by more or less *Exactly* the amount the defense debuff set in burst is giving you. You can afford to actually slot that power for damage or pick something else if you don't really want it. The three set of titanium coating in wolf spider armor also seems like a weak choice considering how little resistance you actually get out of that power. I'm sure *something* better could be found. Like say spending one slot to fully enhance stamina for end mod and getting an extra 7% recovery.

Thanks to having up to 3 builds per AT and I used them all on my Arachnos Soldier. My first build is for teaming and it is my Huntsman build. When I play this build I enjoy staying at a distance and debuffing the target while using my Call Reinforcements for additional damage. My second build is my Bane Build and I mainly use him for Task/Strike Forces and Incarnate Trials. The heavy ST damage for AV's with the addition of some cone attacks for the adds are great and I like not having to redraw my weapons. My last build is my Crab build and I use him when I solo since he is able to get the most pets and is one tough SoB. I currently have 8 pets to include my Arachnos Lore Pets that help a great deal when soloing.

Good catch. Had not noticed that. Yeah I do have the influence for most of this build. It's actually done other than the +3% defense PvP IO, which I'm not in any hurry to obtain.

How significant is the loss in DPS if only using crab spider attacks? I'm not a fan of the weapons.
