Things I should know about my first PB?

Hey guys just like the question states what are the essentials I need to know? I've never made a PB before and I've only leveled a WS to 26 so I have hardly any experience with the Khelds. Since the lightform changes I've become interested in making one. I would like to make a human only PB but I'm not sure on what's good and what's not. It looks like PB's do mostly KB and don't have a hold like WS's so what are the tactics for cysts and other dangerous things?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

incandescent strike is a mag 3 hold. the differnce being that WS's have a bunch of stuns that stack on each other where as PBs only have the 1 that is mag 2. *knock on wood that that gets changed soon*

from my pb experience though, PBs are pretty straight forward though.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

Ahh ok they have a melee hold kinda like seismic smash, that's cool. I prefer the ranged WS version(gravity well? It's been awhile since I've played him) but that's nothing a little tp'ing to the target or using SS won't cure. I love the fact that PB's get a Dull Pain clone and a Reconstruction clone heal and have a variety of melee/ranged attacks. As soon as I finish leveling my Elec/Time I will get started on a PB ASAP.

The one thing I like about my human form PB is that he is self sufficient. PB's have 2 heals, 1 recovery power, Self Rez, Tier 9 (that can be turned perma), Phase Shift, and even an Ally Heal. They can be played as a range even jump into melee when needed. In my opinion PB's are a jack of all trades, master of none and that is why I love to play them.

When I play my Tanker, I tank, when I play my Blaster, I blast, when I play my Scrapper, I scrap, etc.... When I play my PB I can change my playstyle for to fill in the gaps in teams. PB's will never replace an AT, but they are well rounded enough to be a great addition to any team.

Was that true along the way leveling, out of curiosity?

Generally, yes. Unlike Warsahdes, PBs don't rely on buffs from enemies whatsoever. They're entirely self-contained.

If anything, I'd tell a new PB to forget their expectations. Khelds were originally set to unlock at 50. IMO there was a good reason for that. Playing a Kheld effectively requires knowledge that you only gain from playing several different ATs. They've got both ranged and melee damage as well as a little control (More true for Warshades than PBs) and if you're not used to dealing with all of those aspects you won't be a good Kheld.

Also, knowing when to use each form is key. Nova is the master of AoEs, Dwarf excels at tanking and there's nothing better for ST damage than human. As you play you'll develop an instinctive understanding of which form is optimal depending on team composition and the situation at hand. That's the single most important aspect of playing a Kheldian. If you don't know when to switch forms you're gonna fail hard. Be mindful of the situation and remember that you should be switching as a fight demands. If you hang in one form the entire time you're doing it wrong.

Don't have time to add much, but one thing I want to emphasize is being careful of how you spend your slots. Even without getting into tri-forming with a human only build, you want to make sure you don't spread yourself too thin. Make sure you have solid attacks lined up, and even end use and resists, before slotting your heals too heavily. Yes, you want the heals slotted, but they're only so much help if you can't damage well or have no endurance.

I learned some of this the hard way playing my WS but I just kinda got bored of him then the dust settled and he was basically forgotten. I will keep this in mind though if I pick up any of the other forms.

I still wish that the epic AT's were lvl50 locked TBH but oh well. I am glad that I leveled pretty much every AT to 50, at least once, but a kheld(also MM's) before I wanted to level one.

Thanks for the advice. You do have so many power picks and it is easy to get swept up into trying to slot all kinds of stuff.
