First Ward content left unfinished business

First off I want to say the newest content is awesome. I look forward to future zone facelifts and new content in those lifts. But I have to say after completeing teh first ward content and now running again, some things left me itching for what is hopefully the next stage. First when raiding the asylum being unable to break out and break free the "children" of mother was frustrating. I felt liek I did half the job. Secondly

*SPOILER ALERT*

I want to rescue Katie from the network that I was forced to put her into.

Well, of course it did. It is supposed to leave a few stray knots and a cliffhanger so that the zone can later be revisited. After all, levels 30-50 in Praetoria still need fleshing out.

On the other hand, the Seer network was left largely unguarded, and Vanessa DeVore, the woman who was personally shielding hundreds of minds from the Seers, said she was going to free Katie herself. Odds are once the whole thing was over she could just walk right into the Seer network and unhook Katie herself, with no need to trouble your character over something so trivial.

Since all it took to "reconnect" Katie Douglas to the Seer Network was ... switching on her cybernetic implants ... presumably all it would take to remove her from the Network would be to switch those back off again.

The fact that this WAS NOT DONE FOR HER during Vanessa's arc ... really burned ...

It's the end. But the moment has been prepared for ...

maybe just switching it off causes some psychic backlash that could fry her brain?

Jay Doherty: Yes, there was this one night that I was ready to go home but had to drop the browns off at the super bowl before I left for home. While on the throne it hit me. I stayed for a few more hours and that why we have the pain pads in the game.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the assumption is that Vanessa intended to do it. The player could not at any point until Serene was defeated, otherwise Katie and the other Seers would have been vulnerable to influence by the Talons. And as far as narration goes (at least for the game) you don't do 'wrap up post-climax' missions, the finale is the climax.

The seer facility was basically gutted. D.U.S.T., Arclight, etc, were all pretty well wiped by the apparitions, so I can't imagine they just left katie plugged in after the threat of the Talons was quashed.

the ending did seem kind of abrupt though and definitely left room for them to expand the story. It feels like you stopped *a* threat to First Ward, but didn't do much else.

Leaving Katie plugged in bugged me too. Another thing that bugged me... Whose dad was that in the mission where Katie is hiding you from the seers? Signs point to it being Anna's dad, but then again it could just be some random civilian. I want to know!

of course you didn't. The threat of the apparitions is not only still at large, but still steadily being made thanks to Mother Mayhem. And according to the thing Diabolique showed you, she may not only be aware of the damage she's causing, but enjoying causing it and even Diabolique is powerless to stop her and her own control over the apparitions is limited at best.

I strongly suspect the next Incarnate trial will be dismantling the Mother of Mercy hospital itself.

The apparitions were created by Mother Mayhem, but only Sorceress Serene's machinations let them come out and affect the rest of the world. Serene's out of the way, and we were already gonna stop Mother Mayhem, but that's a job for incarnates. So what's left hanging there?
