Mercs That Bad?
Fast pace, slow pace, each AT, each set has a certain situation they perform subpar with the rest of the team. ST focused sets (like dark) will fall behind against AoE focused sets when plundging through hordes of mobs, alike toggle debuffers that cant even keep their toggles up because mobs die too fast.
Earth trollers are masters of control, but lack serious damage. Having a team that doesnt need lockdown at all, you just run along and pretend you're busy. The odd few debuffs you can keep up are the -defense, at the end your team still benefit your pressence in the team.
Trials are different cookie, BAF i have a huge contribution of my MM, i pick up adds, i guard doors easy (unless they get confused), LAM however i lack serious, due the high speed of moving around the map and indoor, while BaB keeps jumping around. Underground same story though enough parts where you can shine again (regen boss where you have to take down those pilons), specialy last room where confuse is actualy more annoying to your pets.
But nothing is different to any other set or AT, they also have their good and bad moments, where they are performing at top or just running around to look pretty.
Since the supremecy fix on trials MM's gained quite alot of output and overal usage (at +3 incarnate all your pets become lvl53, T1 48 gets a +5 shift).

Corrs have plenty of time to dps, and many corr support abilities further increase dps. |
Taking aggro off team mates is silly, unless you're on a low level team, theres no reason that should be necessary. |
I accept playstyle differences and the fact that you may not like the way mm's work for you or your teams, but not your initial statement that they are "subpar." If you want a subpar AT, go to the Stalker forum.

And more seriously, I agree with everything 100%. MM's do fine on damage. MM secondaries are equally powerful to corrupter secondaries. And as both a squishy and a melee fan, I can tell you, even on trials and hard taskforces, I always appreciate a good MM on the team. Whether we're steamrolling or barely getting by.

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.
And if we assumed you are right about the primary being ineffective sometimes, when your primary is effective, a defender or corr in many situations will contribute less combined damage and support: they have to take time out of their dps chains (and depending on the support set, this can be a significant amount of time) to use their support powers. The MM can support all he or she wants while the pets continue to do their full damage, meaning overall the MM is actually contributing more. Not only that, but the MM pets are pealing aggro off of teammates, allowing teammates to survive longer.
Team tp is terrible.

I still group with MMs frequently because I have friends that play them and alot of people I pick up to fill incarnate trials play them, and I play my own MM occasionally, but that doesnt change the fact that TFs run with MMs are almost always slower than TFs that are run by the same people not playing MMs, does it mean I won't invite MM's? No. But it doesn't make it go any faster.
But I digress, making my point is a lost cause, as clearly most of you havent played the same endgame I play, which is fine, to each their own way of playing, it doesn't change the way I view MMs (which is being a very poor choice for an AT for the way I play, which is running content extremely fast), and it doesn't change the way you or anyone else views them either for the way that they play.
