Heh. We were all convinced that she was going to outlive all of us.

Sheer spite might not be a very attractive thing. But damn it if can't motivate people!

Clicking on the linked image above will take you off the City of Heroes site. However, the guides will be linked back here.

I like the idea of donations. Just set up a new e-mail address and set up a donation using this. Shouldn't be too hard. I'm willing to do it if you want me to. I imagine that the donation link can even be posted on this thread.

I have no idea what hardware would be best, but there were some good ideas here. CoH really is keyboard friendly, and I've been playing it with just a keyboard at times. BTW, the mouse knob on my Thinkpad can probably be used with the same hand as a mouse alternative for powers which require mouse locations. But I'm sure there are better solutions.

First of all, a big, BIG "thank you" to everyone who has written in with suggestions and offers of help. I will be chatting with my friend Scott on Wednesday evening when we are trying to get him set up on CoH, and will mention all of your offers to him then. Hopefully we will get far enough along that I can get him set up here on the forums and he can answer you himself, but if not I will certainly get back to everyone with his reply on Thursday.

I am not really in a position to assess what sort of hardware would be best for him, but hopefully his physical therapist and the stroke center he goes to can help with that.

Once again, thank you all for your support, advice, and suggestions.

What about Kickstarter?

I'm not very artistic, but I will throw some inf. behind every option on the list as a reward. This is exactly the kind of community-building thing I like to donate to.

This probably breaks a shedload of board rules, Mods, but for the love of god--please look at the intent.

Ultramime, how much do we think we need?

There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.

I'd definitely recommend checking out any advice offered by the folks over at Ablegamers. They frequently review hardware that is designed specifically with the needs of Differently abled gamers in mind.

They even posted a recent review of the Adroit Switchblade. It is native, out of the box, for the XBox, but I believe it has adapters for the PC.

They also have a forum set up to discuss challenges faced by those who have lost the use of hands or other limbs when gaming.

Hope that information helps out, and best of luck to your friend in getting started with City of Heroes.

I can't say. That's something for Scott and his physical therapy team to discuss and assess.

I don't want anyone to get in trouble with the mods, so if he does take you all up on your offer I will contact you privately and set up some sort of offsite page to handle this

Discussions like this remind me of a story I read in grade school about this guy who was really into console games. The catch? He had no hands - his arms literally ended at the shoulder. He was not deterred; he learned to operate the SNES controller with his feet, and got good enough that he could consistently beat games unaided.

There's always a way. Scott will find his.

UPDATE: he's on! After sorting out a few technical and scheduling details, we played through the tutorial and the first mission today! He had a blast!

He will be speaking to his physical therapist this week about any special equipment he might need.

Awesome news! Glad to hear he made it in and is enjoying himself so far. Please welcome your friend to CoH for us!

Still probably won't work for Chat, but who chats and 'arrests' villains at the same time?

There are cheaper (if less able) alternatives.

Belkin Nostromo n52 or n52ti. The former is the old version but still available in some shops (EU I know, you'd have to dig around in US) software is fairly versatile though doesn't always play nicely with win 7. The ti version is electronically the same device but it looks nicer has glowing blue backlight and costs more. But is newer so consequently more available, software is more advanced too. There is also a Razer version but I don't know anything about this one.

Saitek make something similar, it's flatter and IMO not as well layed out as the Nostromo, but as I haven't really used one I can't go into greater detail.

Did you ever say what server you guys are on? If you're around Virtue, I could use some leveling buddies while my friends are busy moving.
