  1. UPDATE: he's on! After sorting out a few technical and scheduling details, we played through the tutorial and the first mission today! He had a blast!

He will be speaking to his physical therapist this week about any special equipment he might need.

I can't say. That's something for Scott and his physical therapy team to discuss and assess.

I don't want anyone to get in trouble with the mods, so if he does take you all up on your offer I will contact you privately and set up some sort of offsite page to handle this
  3. First of all, a big, BIG "thank you" to everyone who has written in with suggestions and offers of help. I will be chatting with my friend Scott on Wednesday evening when we are trying to get him set up on CoH, and will mention all of your offers to him then. Hopefully we will get far enough along that I can get him set up here on the forums and he can answer you himself, but if not I will certainly get back to everyone with his reply on Thursday.

I am not really in a position to assess what sort of hardware would be best for him, but hopefully his physical therapist and the stroke center he goes to can help with that.

Once again, thank you all for your support, advice, and suggestions.
  4. Thanks to everyone who has responded so far!
  5. The right arm, and he was right-handed. He has been in PT for two years now, so he has done pretty well at retraining his left hand - he has sloppy handwriting, but he can use it pretty well.

From what he has told me, the loss of function is around 50%, but includes virtually all feeling, so he can't, for example, feel when he is pushing a button with that hand and when he isn't without actually looking. He can't really use a mouse with that hand, and from what he tells me he would be playing with one hand, moving back and forth between keyboard and mouse as needed..

He's on disability at the moment, having lost pretty much everything to the stroke, so buying specialized hardware is probably not in the picture. He has a computer with a standard keyboard.
  6. I have a friend who has lost the use of one arm due to a stroke. He is interested in joining CoH but is concerned about whether or not he will be able to handle the game with his disability.

Does anyone have any advice for modifications to keymapping or setup that might make play easier for him?

    Thanks in advance!
