Yes, and I still have the embarrassing stuff about you on hand. I'm just waiting for the best time to reveal it.

Are you sure it was a good idea to trust your younger brother as your best man?

9 years? That's how much time you'd have gotten if you killed him. And with good behaviour you'd never have done the whole dime.

Congrats!

Congratulations! May you both have many years of fun and happiness in Paragon City (and outside too). I love seeing couples and families who game together. It warms my curmudgeonly little heart.

In January I married my favorite hero ever, and I met him right here in CoH. I have a lot of issues with the game these days, but I know we'll still be playing here together for a long time to come.

My wife and I have been together for very nearly 17 years, and married for 6 as of last month, though with our newly spawned Sidekick she doesn't get as much time in-game as she might want (neither do I, for that matter), but we still play together when the chance comes up.

The only funny I can think of during our wedding (which my father was the priest for), was during the vows. I was so nervous that one of my automatic coping mechanisms came up - I tend to start gesticulating. Which I couldn't actually do, because I was looking at my wife, holding her hands. So my hands started rocking back and forward. My wife, thinking I was just doing it in rhythm to the words, joined in, which distracted me enough to almost fluff my lines - I certainly had to think really hard to remember what they were, and frowned disapprovingly at her, which she, quite reasonably, didn't understand.

At the wedding reception, my best men (I really couldn't choose between them, and they come as a pair, anyway) had written an absolutely awesome speech, all in rhyme, with them alternating verses. In something like the third verse, one of them stopped, looked at the other, and said "You cocked up." "No I didn't!" "Yes you did. Look: that one's your line, that ones mine, so that one is yours!" "Oh, yeah. Damn. Okay, go back, we'll start that bit again." "'Kay."

The rest of the speech went off without a hitch.

And then the day after...

My wife and I, and many of the guests, had stayed the night at the hotel where the reception was held, so in the morning, there were a lot of our friends and families hanging around in the parking lot, and my Dad sauntered over to me.

"Shad? [he actually used my real name] Do you have your marriage certificate?"

"Umm, it's in the car, I think. Why?"

"Errr, I, errr, think I may have forgotten to sign it."

*blink*

*blink*

"Ooookaaaaaay..."

"Don't worry, you are actually married! But if you could grab it for me, I'd better just sign it now..."

What.

But yeah, humor always helps ease the stress of the ceremony. As my dad was preparing to walk my sister down the aisle, he gently remarked to her:

"I just want you to know, I'm not wearing any underwear."

But hey, it worked

*laughs*

Yeah, when my mom and I were checking out various resorts in Vegas for where to hold the ceremony, we checked out... Paris, Caesar's Palace, the Venetian, the Bellagio, and the MGM Grand (where we ended up having it). Paris's chapel was too small, the Venetian HAS no chapel, and the Bellagio was just too expensive.

In each place while talking to the convention/event services agent, I would 'mention' to my mom (while holding a copy of the ceremony) my concerns about whether there'd be enough room. Apart from the Venetian, each agent would then look at me and inquire, "You mean this isn't a traditional wedding?" "Oh, no," I'd blithely reply, "it's a pagan handfasting. Still got the white dress and the tux, but totally different ceremony."

The one at Paris just sort of nodded, as did the one at the Bellagio. The one at Caesar's stopped in her tracks and gave me this very disapproving look (ironically right after we'd almost chosen to have it there because their garden courtyard is lovely), and started lecturing me. So much for that.

On the flipside, at the MGM Grand, when I mentioned that incident, not only did the services people think it was neat, but the RABBI that officiated there loved the ceremony and wanted to perform it for us... except for the fact that we were scheduled to get married 10 minutes after sundown and he wouldn't be able to.

Wait, who's this John guy? I don't know about him, but I'd be nervous about being so close to someone married for nine years to a guy named BloodSpeaker. Sounds to me like he's just asking for an ***-kickin'.

We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)

John = BloodSpeaker. His global's a reference to LEGEND OF THE FIVE RINGS.

And I have no problem stomping on him when needed.

Not that uncommon, really.

Although looking up my own first name, I get "Peace" for the second part. And depending on which "line of decent' you follow it's origins back on in those name websites, you get either "Territory", "Stranger", "Hostage"(!?), or "Of God"
