The Shatner Takei feud continues in Shatner's upcoming book.

If not us, who then? I say thee yes! because the internet is for scorn.

I was paraphrasing of course, but that doesn't make it any less true - either one, come to think of it...

Shatner is really just Shatner. He's proved himself as a broader range actor thanks to his role particularly in Boston Legal. Does he have an ego? Absolutely. Does he openly mock himself and not take himself seriously at the same time? Definitely. This whole thing comes off to me as professional jealousy, really. Shatner became the star of the show and Takei on whatever level resents that or feels he was held down.

I'm not going to comment on what Shatner thinks about Takei's personal life because I've not read or seen anything one way or another. However, everything I have seen indicates that he's fairly broad-minded and accepting.

It's a showbusiness feud, but honestly one that only they seem to care about.

I've met/encountered Shatner at a convention many moons ago and yes the man does have an ego, but you are right in that he doesn't take himself too seriously then or now. Yes the man does "Ham it up" but he has fun and makes it fun to watch. His Priceline commercials have always been amusing especially when Nimoy joined for a few of them.

Last I read was that Shatner long ago mended fences with Doohan, he and Nimoy are practically best friends, and I believe he was on good terms with DeForrest and Nichols. I honestly don't know where he stands in the eyes of Walter though, and it's clear what Takei thinks.

But as I previously posted the old Trek was centered on Kirk, with Spock, McCoy and Scotty as the main support characters. Sulu, Chekov and Uhura were the token characters, as crummy as that may sound last I checked it was the truth. Perhaps Takei is jealous of Shatner but perhaps Takei's ire is better directed at Paramount instead?

Just like Shatner doesn't take himself too seriously anymore I don't really take this supposed "feud" too seriously either.
This. It is quite possible it is an act of sorts between them. If so, give them an award and end it.

Wasn't Takei on the roast of Shatner that was on Comedy Central? I mean, ya, it's a roast and all.

I was just thinking that if there's any place I'd like to see the two finally settle things and let it go, it would be on Conan. Takei was recently on the show for a bit, and Shatner has appeared on all 3 of Conan's shows.

Well yes he was. What better way to vent frustration at someone then when they are being roasted? Also wasn't that before Takei's wedding and the invitation problem?

Also when they set up a roast they sit down with the target and ask them what topics are out of bounds so they can inform the roasters of what NOT to do. Shatner's wig and the loss of his wife Nerine were taboo to the roasters. However Shatner rode out on a horse onto the stage and he is an equestrian as I recall. Takei's comment about Shatner and the horse he rode in on, according to some comments after the roast with the producers, didn't sit to well with Shatner supposedly.

Who knows?

You would think that if they were really feuding and such, that Takei wouldn't have been there. I can't see them inviting him if he and Shatner were not, at the very least, on speaking terms with each other. But that's just my opinion. *shrug*
