- Turn both off. Note the global value (for me it is 27.6 Ranged, 13.3 all else)
- Add them together. (For me this is 54 Ranged, 39.5 all else)
- If you go with Destiny Tier 4 Barrier, add another 5 for the perma value (now 59 Ranged, 44.5 Ranged).
- The incarnate soft cap is 59, normal soft cap is 45.
For anyone inclined, I found it easy to just plug that stuff into excel, or a google docs spreadsheet for those who don't have excel.

I can confirm that the 2nd minute of the T4 Barrier Core buff is 5% DEF and 5% Resistance.

I know everyone wants to keep talking about the D and rech that Time adds and it is awesome. I just wanna see how it actually performs with a complete build. When I was testing in beta the set had one huuuuge problem with it. Endurance. Even with slotting for end in every power, I could blow through a whole bar in a very short amount of time.

I won't know until I have a full build together on live for my Fire/Time, but honestly I don't see it being any worse than a high rech Fire/Dark (which I have one of, and is actually more manageable endurance wise than my Fire/Fire/Fire Dom who has T4 Cardiac, Perma-Dom Bluebar refill AND Consume).

Alpha Cardiac is pretty much a given, and if that's not enough you can always make room in the build for conserve power (Power Mastery, Mu) or even Power Sink (Mu).

I use:

45 - (PB+FS) + FS = Soft Cap with FS toggled on, but PB toggled off.

Example:
PB + FS = 31.98
FS = 19.69
45 - 31.98 + 19.69 = 32.71
So, if the build with FS toggled on, and PB toggled off, the defense value in the totals box is 32.71 or greater, then I'm soft-capped.

For My defender builds it's 32.7, for the corruptor versions it's 37.6. It should be fairly safe to assume 33 and 38 for most any decent build as a quick check.

but conserve power's no fun. I'm also workin a Fire/Time, but I really want soul. Plus, so much clicky and remember that i don't wanna add more if i don't have to.

Since I can't bring myself to roll a Defender (almost did it with my ice/time but... Too much scourging fun even with Frost Breath), that's what I've been doing, using 33 as base. I'm finding it easier using Scorpion Shield since I can get a buttload of recharge and 33% to the rest, but that's because I picked too many powers from ice blast (like freeze ray, the nuke, frost breath), a set I never played much. So far I've been getting great mileage of all these but that may change when I IO her, since I found it easier planning builds that weren't ice blast (for example I skip Flares on Fire/, but I don't skip Ice Bolt on Ice/).

Also, damn the build is bind-heavy - already have shift+click for the slow patch, ctrl+click for Ice Storm (I use one after another), H for the heal, V for the ally buff, and I know I'll have keys bound to Farsight and Chrono Shift. Hell she may outbind my mind emp

Ohh, hadn't thought of binding them. Really should use binds more =)

I've finally gotten around to putting together my beam/time build. I think it works pretty well. Should be defense capped to everything but psi under PB farsight with enough recharge to have all my fun powers ready to fly whenever I want. Oh and that's soft-capped before the ~20% to-hit debuff from Time's Juncture. Temp Invul + Tough puts me at almost 58% S/L resist and under FoN I'm > 60% resist to everything.

Since it's late and I want to make sure I'm not making a mistake, here's how I'm doing my defense numbers.

-no PB active- CJ+Weave+Maneuvers+set bonuses = X

PB Farsight = Y

If X+Y= > 45 then

I am using the lowest defense numbers in my totals window to add together in each scenario (not psi though). Figure if the lowest numbers added are > 45 then I'm covering all my bases.
