Ice/Poison would probably fit the bill as well.

As much as I love my BR/Poison, It's not number 1. Maybe it's just me...and without the numbers in front of me I can't be for sure... but it honestly doesn't feel like it does all that much damage. Even when Disintegrate is on.
That's not to say it's the weakest set... but I'd say it's probably closer to 3rd place at this point. Ice and Fire are still above it, IMO.
Probably Fire/Cold or Fire/Traps, but I'm just guessing.
Fire Blast, Ice Blast, and Sonic Blast are the only sets I would even think of considering for a ST specialized build. */kin, */rad, */cold, and */poison are all good choices for ST damaging. If you simply want crazy strong ST debuffs, */cold and */poison are your only choices.
That said, Poison gets it's debuffs earlier but it's overall a weaker set compared to cold in the later levels, cold simply has more tools to build on.
For primary, Fire is the best for damage, largely because that's all Fire does. For secondary, you're looking for the AV-soloing sets: Traps, Rad, and Cold. Poison may fit the bill, too (I haven't looked over the Corruptor version yet).
You can't really beat Fire (and it has great AoE too), I also have BR/Poison I like. BR is good but Fire is better, and Ice may be too.
I agree with streetlight, you want the AV soloing sets (and yeah that includes Poison) for the -regen, -resist and -special they put out. I have a soft spot for Traps - mez protection, immob, easy to cap defenses, lacks a heal but so does all the other sets except Rad, but you can pick aid self if you wanna solo hard stuff.
Fire/Poison or BR/Poison. Traps is right up there though, due to the regen debuffs.

I was thinking Beam/Posion for the fact you can debuff quickly with envenom and weakon and beam rifle is starting to get known for good ST dmg your thoughts.
