/auctionhouse - WAI or Missing the Boat?
You do know that it costs like 25k Prestige to put a crafting table in your base, right? Why bother summoning a crafting table in there?
Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304
Eh, while economics may not work that way, what else are you going to do with all those common salvage drops you get? I know I turn them all into common IOs and throw them on the market, especially on toons who don't have niches in other places. its cheap, easy, and a nice way to make a few 100k inf with very little work. Plus i've gotten lucky enough with common IOs to get a few at 5 million, from misclicks..

The change to /auctionhouse is why I bought all the Vault Space, and half the salvage space - I'll sit at the university in Cap on my Brute and craft everything without needing to move, and my level 33 locked Fire tanker has plenty of salvage space so I can buy 1 or 2 extra of each type before entering the Crafter's Cafe (to ensure I don't run out in the midst of crafting my 20+ Recipes [bought the two trays as well]).
Deamus the Fallen - 50 DM/EA Brute - Lib
Dragos Bahtiam - 50 Fire/Ice Blaster - Lib

I would sell them until I get my 7000 sales badge, and then delete them from then on. I don't craft commons for any other reason than badges. Even on my non-badge-focused characters, I craft the 25/30 and 45/50 slots for increased storage (especially the 45/50 one since that affects recpies).

And seriously, there's NO WAY they'd make ALL of the crafting badges account-wide
Also, it's not a 'whole bunch of storage' anymore = compared to the amount they just give us as VIP's at Tier 8 or 9 it's pretty substantial & if you have the extra from crafting Badges, & maybe the Vanguard Bag.
Plus the salvage storage you can buy (the Extra vault space is almost reasonably priced = IF you have the /vault command - otherwise maybe not.
I think the ALL the various additional storage you can buy - adds up to like 20,000 PPoints (?=IIRC, all that plus Beam Rifle, and 1 or 2 other new things bumped up my "Wish List" to what I roughly figured would've been over $300. But that was IF you could buy the 9600 point bundle multiple times - I wonder when they'll change it to let people buy the bundles more than once?) I'd suspect it'll be quickly.
I broke down and dropped $100 for points to buy the 2 extra Enhancement Trays (I've got dozen's of characters - over lots of servers. So, it seemed "worth it" for convenience - it means no more deleting Enh's in combat (I'm a bit OCD about that) & it triples the usefulness of Respecs, and the extra Paragon Tokens - let me fill up my 'vet-tree' to Teir 9 with a few 'paragon tokens' to spare (which I hadn't even thought about beforehand.)
Uhm, back somewhat to topic, On the positive side - with /vault working in bases that lets you Delete the 100,000 Prestige Personal Vault - which takes an annoying 5 Power & 5 Control. Without that I requirement = I don't need any Power or Control at all in some of my smaller 'personal SG basses' - or for that matter the freakin Oversight Room!
And, I can drop in another Enhancement Table...
City of Heroes didn't fail, City of Heroes was killed. If a 747 dropped on your house, you'd say you were killed, not you failed to find a safer dwelling.

Common IOs would not go up, at least not considerably, because thousands of people would have both a remote command and a portable table to toss a ton of IOs at the market if they ever get above craft price to enough of an amount to bother.
A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!
I read through the thread and while I did see that it was changed for a technical reason, and not specifically a nerf, I didn't see it mentioned that they've said that when the tech is there to support it, it will be supported again.
Basically, the market loads EVERY SINGLE ITEM and synchronizes it on multiple servers (your mission instance server) and even before the patch which made it available to almost everyone, they were seeing some server strain. So, they had to take out that functionality for technical reasons, and are looking at getting it working properly again in the future.
Ideally the solution would be to make a more efficient market which can easily be accessed through multiple servers, which would improve overall performance over what we currently see. (huge lag spikes at times)
Also I'm pretty sure price on a lot of IOs will go up as supply dries up. Most people do not bother to make common IOs, and there's a pretty big amount that are entering the market through badge grinding. Even more are simply deleted, though, so the impact would probably be limited to IOs such as taunt, which are cheap to create and already have a low demand.
I mean you can get nearly any kind of common IO for less than it costs to create - even 50's - currently. There's realistically nowhere for the price to go but up as systems which would impact price are changed.
With that said it's not a big deal and nobody should be concerned about it either way.
A solution might be to make the cooldown of the skill dependent upon how many toons you've got on your account with it unlocked so that the desire to continue to unlock it is still there, but that seems like a completely new tech with no real future.

idea: what about a /basesalvageracks command? something that would allow you access to your salvage racks anywhere anytime? yes I know the /vault allows some access, but not many are going to have that command available <I don't>
I like the ideas about changing the crafting table cooldown and the 10 feet/duration idea.

Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
AND remove the duration, so that you can have it up indefinitely. With the caveat that if you step away more than say 20 feet from it, it explodes.
I don't craft FAST, nor should I be forced to feel rushed.
AND, even with all of this, it still will kind of suck because my base is where the bulk of the salvage that I need is located.
Having to constantly enter/exit/enter/exit the base in order to work on crafting badges, is a bit off-putting.
How about a compromise, can "/auctionhouse" be made to work in bases but NOT in other instances like missions? I can definitely live without being able to use it in missions.
Thanks for reading.
EDIT:
A thought just hit me. If their reasoning is that it puts a strain while you are in an instance, how about adding some code to the Vault interface (as well as to the "/Vault" command) that brings up a menu listing all of your SG bases storage bins?
This way you have most of the functionality of being able to use the /auctionhouse while in your base, without actually being in your base instance.
