I don't believe it's customizable in any way.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great concept for anyone who has a matching color scheme.
I just don't want my dark, brooding anti-hero to look to have it look like he's going through a mid-life crisis.

I imagine they decided if it could only be one un-customizable color that "red racing stripes" was probably going to be the most acceptable to most people. I know it basically works out for most of my alts who plan to use it. *shrugs*

All the videos of hoverboard I've seen have been of a bright red, flashy hoverboard. Is this the only model available or do we get to pick or color the board in any way?
