Video your stuff, slowly, taking pictures isn't nearly as good as you might leave stuff out and the video never stops.
Hope things work out fine. I've been in Hurricane Gordon [wimp] and Tropical Storm Francis [ate Galveston for lunch and puked it onto Houston] but really, those dont' compare to this.
Had my sister-in-law and her [horrible] kids stay up here, not with us but my mother-in-law, for a few months when Katrina did her thing.
Fortunately, living in Pennsylvania, I will probably avoid the worst of the storm. But, where I live, we will still see quite a bit of rain and wind from the remnants.

In NYC (Bronx) and from what I hear, the storm was downgraded but areas around Albany are reporting a 3.0 earthquakes.

Just checking in now cuz of nonstop work the last five days. Storm did its thing but didn't really leave a bruise in my neighborhood. It blew power in PG County where our new office - that we were moving into this weekend - is based. No real damage, but poorer timing could not have been conceived...

I'm watching CNN and following the coverage for Hurricane Irene--it looks like its going to be a massive storm. As someone from New Orleans, (I evacuated and was displaced for 2 months following Katrina), I know how disruptive this can be.
I hope that everyone evacuates safely and for those of you staying in place--make sure you have supplies and take a video or cell phone picture inventory of your stuff. If you do make an insurance claim, its invaluable to have that documented...i found that out!
Oh, and if cell phone service goes down, texting always worked for us here..even during the heights of the storm, we were getting texts from people that stayed in the hospitals. ( its something about using less bandwidth).
