Why can't the server list update?
P.S.
Find a way to show "servers will be shutting down in 30 minutes" type warnings on the list too.
Edit:
Well, color me surprised. I actually got past the login and found all servers grayed out and down, but I remember not being able to get past the login before with it saying "you may have network problems" instead of the true issue.
Also, single server shutdowns are still apparently not listed with no warnings as to shutdowns coming.
Why can't the server list in the game update just as the one on the status page website does?
Every time there is a planned or unplanned downtime the servers still show their last status before the lights went out as if they are still running. There is no warning in the launcher of unintended downtime or really even planned downtime sometimes. Why can't the list update with the actual server status? Do you really want us to think the game is broken because the server says it is up but doesn't let us get to the character screen? Why can't the in game server list update status? |
Global: @Kelig
The game is "broken" they had to take it down for emergency stability fix after the hardware upgrades today and are now pushing out a hotfix for the issues with no eta on server uptime.

The point of this suggestion is to get a more accurate status of every server and all the servers as a whole instead of the usual "you were unable to connect to the login server, check your internet connection for problems"(which is just stupid when that is definitely not the reason).
The suggestion stands.

I was talking about the server list in the game, which happens to only list a server as down once they are all down or it is has been officially determined as down.
It really should have some sort of trigger that detects server status "on the fly"(shouldn't be hard or need more than a single string of data) and updates it for users so they aren't left wondering what is going on, if it is their computer or whatever.
But, I guess they like telling ever customer "go fix your internet" when they can't login or stay connected because the server died or was taken down intentionally.

I ignore that other thread now that you have to bring up again because all the trolls(who accuse others of being alarmist or trolls or "not worth considering their views") have to destroy civil discussion because they just can't read("TLDR" ring any bells?) and only want to cause conflict.
Don't you dare turn this perfectly reasonable and smart suggestion into a flame war with your desire to stalk my posts.
Anybody else can take their posts elsewhere. This is for discussion of my suggestion, nothing else.
If I read him right, he isn't talking about the Server Status page on the web. He is talking about the Server Status list in the game client after you login. At least, I think he is.

That list, and the password screen before it, are always providing inaccurate information on server status.
Try logging in during maintenance next time and read the error box that comes up(if it still does). I bet it will say "you were unable to connect to the login server, please check your internet connection and make sure you are able to login".
It's rather dumb that even a scheduled shutdown brings up the "it's your fault" error box.

But demands that people should stay on topic usually backfire. Been here 7 years and I've never seen it work. Not even the mods/devs can keep people on topic. It's like herding cats.
If you think someone is doing that then report the post and put the person on ignore by left clicking their forum name then choosing, view public profile, then User Lists, and Add to ignore list. Then you'll never see anything they say.

What do you think of actually having accurate server status on the server list in the game?
Well then don't participate in drawing it off topic.

I'm letting my time run out and not coming back unless there are some major changes to make me feel welcome and my money feel wanted rather than demanded.

I suggest trying some breathing exercises to lower your stress. Burn some cinnamon incense, or scented candles and take slow deep breathes. In thru the nose and then exhale out thru the mouth. Let your mind go blank and breathe. In thru the nose . . . and out thru the mouth . . . In thru the nose . . . and out thru the mouth.
See if that helps.
