Can't even DELETE a custom character...
FYI, Apocalypse Cow was a villain from The Tick's live action show. The DC planet is actually spelled "Apokolips."
There IS an X-Men villain simply named "Apocalypse," though, and that's likely why it's being blocked... similarly to why people have been unable to use the word "gambit" in descriptions since the launch of the AE system.

Main Villain: Evil Gulzow-Man (Victory) 50, 1193 Badges

NO NAME AT ALL is acceptable to the AE editor now. And I cannot even delete the critter.

Does anything else in the custom's description have Apocalypse in it, ie the enemy group name or the save file name?
Craft your inventions in AE!!
Play "Crafter's Cafe" - Arc #487283. A 1 mission, NON-COMBAT AE arc with workable invention tables!
Yes, the filter will flag "profanity" in file names. Yes, it's stupid.
Also, if you want to actually delete a critter, you must also remove said critter from any arc they appear in and any custom group they belong to. If you're just trying to remove the critter from the arc it's best to remove them from the custom group as well, as those guys have a pesky tendency to think "I'm supposed to be in this arc" even if they're actually not.

Ah... THAT seems to have done it. It didn't look like it worked at first, but I quit out of CoX entirely, came back in, and now the critter is gone.
Thanks a bunch.

You can also edit the critter, then use 'change save file path' or whatever it's called to change it to the new name. If you don't do that, it tries to save it under the old file name, which is the based off the previous offending name.

I have a simliar problem. I had a NPC called Raven that is now invalid. Hard to get a more common name then Raven, but anyway.
I managed to fix it on one of my local copies, after hours of pulling my hair out! Every time I changed the details it kept coming back and I ended up with more and more copies of the same character in the same group....
In the end I somehow managed to fix my local copy of the group.
But how do I fix it on my published story, as every time I go to delete references to Raven in the arc it still says the group is invalid as it still has Raven in it. I assume this is because the publish copy of the group hasn't been fixed, but how do you overwrite that copy without fixing the arc first? Catch 22.
I don't want to unpublish my arc as then I'll lose all the votes? Won't I?
So I run a toon through my AE arc so I can get a few badges for her (29973 The Running of the Bulls thankyouforasking).
I discover a "corrupted critter" in one of the missions (looks like a hydra-man). I go into the AE mission editor to see the trouble. It has tagged one of the custom critters in my mission with ProfanityCopyrightDetected. The critter name is Apocalypse Cow.
Of course, there has been much Thunder and Fury expended here on the boards about the overzealous filters. Yes, Apocalypse is a planet in DC Comics, but it's stupid to filter such a common English word, bla bla bla.
I thought I could get around it by making the lower-case L into an upper-case I, or spelling it with an I rather than a Y, or something. Nothing I tried worked. I thought, wow they thought of everything, but then I tried Coppola Cow (as in Francis Ford Coppola, director of the film Apocalypse Now).
Nope.
Humm. What about just Cow?
Nope.
Hummm... something in the character description...? I deleted the entire description and named the character fred.
Nope.
How about the name hhhhh?
Nope.
NOTHING will get the AE editor to accept ANY name for this custom critter. AND I cannot see how to just delete it.
I have already filed a petition about the word Apocalypse being filtered. But NOW the game won't even allow me to file a different petition about this undeleteable, nothing-is-acceptable bug.
Any ideas?
