Allow Chat windows in Training, Respeccing and Tailor screens

Idea:
When im using the Tailor or Trainer or Respeccer (?) allow me the option to view all my Chat windows.

Reason:
It annoys me when Im working on a new costume or respec (especially the respec) and I cant chat to my mates on the game.
In the past its been when I was asking for advice on what power to select or even "hey how does a black/black nrg blast look?" or when trying to explain something to a newish player.

Extra:
For the Tailor its not such a BIG issue as you can save you current costume, exit the tailor and reload it and get back to work but if your having a running discussion or on a channel doing this all the time is - well just not an option.

Problems/Options:
Based on the current Tailor/Train/Respec windows which take up the entire screen it would be difficult to allow even the default chat window and not have it block part of the options. So the Devs would need to rework those screens to allow space for your chat windows.
That being said also having a "Show/Hide Chat" toggle would resolve this - it allows me to chat with my mates while doing my respec/costume but also hide those windows when I need to.

Options considered and discarded:
Use Skype (et all) = not everyone I talk to in the game is a friend. Sometimes they are people in the SG or Global Channels that I dont know.

Thank you for your time and responces

Agreed, signed and all that...

I also agree that the respec and training screen is worse (even though the costume screen is far more common for me).

However, I'd suggest that they don't have to design the UI in order to prevent the chat tab from blocking things.
It would just be great if we could press the C key and have the chat tab pop up and/or go hidden.

This is how it works while in the Base Editor. In fact, it took a while for me to discover that we can have the chat tab visible while editing bases. Just hit C (by default) and it toggles it visible and hidden (just like in the regular game).

Obviously, I wonder if making that possible within the full screen Training, Respec'ing and Costume screens is an entirely different and potentially not-feasible matter!
That's not for us to consider, though... We just know we'd like to have chat functionality while in those screens!

This is brought up fairly often and I completely agree it needs to be fixed.

I agree.

Also, that other competitor from Cryptic does this already(albeit their whole UI could be better).

I do like this idea! Heck, I would be just as satisfied with an even simpler solution. If I can't answer someone because I am in the middle working on a respec/costume I want whomever is trying to reach me to know why I can't respond. for instance an enable/disable option for RESPEC/TAILOR AUTO RESPONSE. If im doing something and can't respond without screwing up whatever I'm doing I just want people to know I cant respond for that reason. This message would say " I am currently working on a respec or costume change and cannot respond at this time. " for me personally this would suffice, but I like your idea of having the ability to chat while doing my respec...I just know I won't want to talk while I'm doing mine. One other idea along the same lines...It would be helpful for people working on a respec or costume change to be globally displayed as "Tailor" or "Respec" in the location field instead of just showing Steel or pocket D. This would probably get some people to avoid sending you messages in the first place until it shows a different status.

I'm not sure if it is working, but there is supposed to be a system in place somewhat like that.
When you are on a screen that you cannot see chat on, an auto message is supposed to be returned to anyone sending you a tell (I forgot the exact message... something about you not being able to see chat).
It was added... not that long ago... Haha... lots of details from me today!
I know I've seen it work... but I think I've also noticed it not working.
I'm really not 100% positive.

Just in case you'd ever want to do such a thing... You can use "/afk" to create your own auto-reply message.
/afk I'm too busy playing Barbie to talk right now!!
Would auto reply that message when someone sends you a tell!

I agree with this idea. There was indeed a system that was supposed to tell people you were unavailable right now, but it was very annoying since it caused me to show as unavailable for something as simple as opening my enhancements screen in the middle of a conversation and I believe it doesn't work any more.

I actually would like to extend this idea to include loading screens, as well. I have a beastly machine these days, so the game loads zones in under 10 seconds, but I remember a time (and I'm reminded of it every time I run CoH on another machine) when I could be stuck zoning for 30 seconds to a minute. Being able to use this time to chat with my friends or team-mates instead of sitting on my hands would be appreciated.
