New to brute-ing and resistance sets

Hello all, I'm VERY new to brute-ing, and since I've got a couple of softcapped tankmages (one in the works, one already finished), I decided to try a resistance based set, in this case starting up an Elec/Elec brute. The only problem is, I have absolutely no clue what I should be looking for in set bonuses or power pools, since there's no way in hell I'll be softcapping a resistance based set without popping purples. Please, throw me some advice on good slotting/set goals for resistance based secondaries.

32.5% s/l 50% +rech (from sets) is what you want what you wanna try and shoot for.
On the more expensive builds you can soft cap and get to 50% or so +rech or get more +rech and keep 32.5% def

Well, the finished one is a bots/traps tankermind, and the one "in progress" is me working on making enough inf to cap out a beam/traps corruptor when i21 goes live. It's TRAPS, for crying out loud. That's not one of the sets-of-issue when it comes to the tankmage argument, is it? I thought softcapping traps was just a fact of life.

Why those specific goals, if you don't mind explaining?

32.5% is the usual goal because it's fairly easy to reach and puts you 1 small purple inspiration away from soft-capping yourself.

50% rech. is just a good number to aim for!
