Corruptors and Beam Rifle?

What little we know about beam Rifle states that it starts out weaker then some ranged blast sets, but affects or debuffs the enemy in a way that increases the damage as you use it. That reminds me of the Scourge mechanic. This is purely speculation, but it seems to me that Beam Rifle might turn out be very nice on a Corruptor for fighting hard targets like AVs.

AVs resist debuffs heavily, but Scourge is not a resistible debuff, and I'm not sure if Beam Rifle's mechanic will be a regular debuff or perhaps some other kind of damage-increase mechanic (such as Blaster Defiance). Although a simple resistance debuff sounds a bit too much like Sonic Blast to me, even if it is (and thus heavily resisted by AVs), it might still be very hard-hitting on AVs, when combined with Scourge and a secondary that debuffs.

Well thematically I don't see how it could be a drain so I'd bet it is something like radiation that eats away their defenses over multiple hits. Maybe it pokes holes in shielding?

This almost sounds like the 'combo' mechanic from Dual Blades (and possibly Street Justice, too?).

The wording of what you say makes it sound like "the more you use Beam Weapon, the more damage it tends to do."

Which doesn't sound like a debuff, so much as a buff. Though this could just be random flavor text.

they have specifically addressed that beam rifle is NOT at all in any shape or form anything like dual blades or street justice, infact the street justice system is completely different to both beam rifle and dual blades and should not be confused as the same system, as described the street justice system is that you have build up moves and 3 finishes, you build up to execute finishers, beam rifle is a big-tohit set that increases in damage the more you use, which would synergise well with kinetics if there were to be an aoe power too, hope this clears up the confusion.

Beam rifle does great damage... you just need to use Disintegrate. All of your attacks after that will do high damage and apply debuffs. As for AVs... you're a corruptor, all corr secondaries have at least one debuff. I wouldn't worry too much about the debuffs in your primary.

Post redacted since I'm apparently delusional.

if corrs are getting FF then thats an undocumented piece of power proliferation

in the announcement of power proliferation for this issue corrs were only getting poison and psi blast

Ummm... you're right. Why the heck did I think they were getting forcefield? I'm apparently going insane. Well there goes my plan to make a Beam Rifle/Forcefield Corruptor.

Seriously though, where on earth did I get the idea that Corruptors were getting Forcefield?

i have no idea where you go the idea lol

and you could still make a ff/beam gun defender if you were pretty set on the idea

Nah, the fact that it would be a Corruptor was the only thing selling me on the idea. I already have three versions of Adeon Hawkwood (AR/Dev Blaster, Traps/AR Defender, and Bots/Traps MM) I really wanted a Beam Rifle Corruptor to complete the set but I don't want another Trapper and after Traps Force Field is the best thematic match .

Disintegrate is a high damage single target dot attack that inflicts disintegration on enemies allows all other rifle attacks to do additional damage and secondary affects. The rifle's first two single target attacks and its snipe will spread disintegration to near by enemies inflicting them with small dot and making them suffer the same additional damage and secondary affects.

Sadly, this means the set needs considerable amounts of set up time making it a VERY poor choice for any active secondaries who have to break the combo to heal allies, debuff enemies, etc. Plus the weapon redraw and that it's a very ranged set so it's probably the WORST set to pair with Kinetics, Trick Arrow, and Time Manipulation imaginable. But it's awesome for the most passive secondaries like Ice and Sonics.

It's fairly good with Dark, Trap, Rad, and Storm since they pretty much use all their support powers right off the bat and then just blast the rest of the fight unless some patch healing needs done.

I'm thinking /Sonic is the best fit. Sonic has very nice -res which doesn't require a lot of set-up time, and is very light on click powers overall(making it weapon-set friendly). Most importantly, the biggest downside of Sonic is the lack of a regen debuff, which Beam Rifle provides.
