Sadly not everyone is going to understand the techincal reason for why Chrome is safer then IE so you have to try to educate them with metaphors. STDs and Condoms are concepts most people can easily wrap their minds around.

I had to help someone with a chrome infection the other day. ::shrug:: None of them are proof versus being hacked. And to my considerable amusement those annoying computer/browser hijack viruses are now targeting Mac's.

i love how people don't understand that Macs aren't more "hack"/virus resistent but rather 95% of people don't use Macs so viruses aren't developed for them... Now that Mac and apple OSs are becoming more popular that means more people will create viruses and such for them and thus make them as bad as Windows with viruses and various other malware, if not worse since the protection software for macs aren't up to par with the Windows protection stuff.
Yeah... I just fix my father in law's computer and don't say anything.

So I just had an awkward talk with my uncle... or at least awkward for me.
2 days ago my bro tells me my grandpa's PC is messed up (again) and that he'd like me to fix it for him today. So today I go over there and my grandpa starts describing the problem... by mid sentence I know what caused it and who to blame for the problem. It's the stuff the net was made for that caused the problem... So I ask if my uncle has been using the PC and the answer is yes and I tell him what happened and then go about trying to fix the problem (new that hadn't seen before all the .exe extensions were changed) so I figure out how to fix the problem and run the software to clean the system...
Well near the end My uncle comes down and is like "Oh the Pc is up" And I ask him if he's been looking at what the internet is for ^.^ and he says yeah. So I try to explain to him for the second or third time that if you are going to look at that stuff don't use internet explorer, use chrome, use incognito, scan for problems, etc... and I notice myself using the word protection a lot. Which when i realized that this is like the talk in reverse kinda made feel awkward.
So have you guys had to have a similar talk with others...concerning PC usage and how to keep safe? And did it feel awkward to you guys?
