Avoiding the Beam
- Powers with long animations or rooting effects were not used or limited around the time the beam struck.

This worked really well I think. I tried to explain to some other melee players to make sure to run into open space at around the 5 sec. mark from when Obliteration beam strikes. I also noted to other melee players to "turn-off" any auto'd attack powers (in my case I had to turn off Parry because I know in most circumstances I'd be stuck in the Parry animation and have a delayed reaction time to run off).

Again I think it's just a matter of paying close attention to both the HP bar of Anti-matter and the Obliteration Beam timer. I think once we get a better grasp of holding off attacks before the time freeze to re-position it will help.

Seeing how quick we were with the reactors, I would like to think it would be plausible to get Anti-anti matter next time also.

Rebirth is the Destiny power that is a giant PBAoE heal. The effect animates along the ground in a large area and is by default green in colour. Some people have found that it makes it more difficult to see the Obliteration Beam area for that reason.

I thought the same thing after today. If we get another strong and dedicated group capable of securing the reactors as quickly as we did, I will try to rotate Anti-Anti-Matter into the badge run. I just didn't want to burn people out as this badge tends to take a longer amount of time and is generally unpleasant, though fairly straight forward to get.

I'll be doing this again this Saturday, August 6th at 3pm Eastern in Pocket D. Please try to arrive a couple minutes early so we can start at 3pm. We will start with Bunker Buster (for anyone that missed it last week) and Avoids the Green Stuff. We will do three to four runs total. If we have a strong group, I'll make one of the runs an Anti-Anti-Matter run as well.

Also, some people have voiced that the above time is not ideal for them. Please let me know if you would like me to shift the time and I'll see what I can do for next week.

A note on this. The Obliteration Beam actually targets a specific player for its point of placement. For example: Anti-Matter is standing atop a big building, and a dozen players are below. He will "fire" the Oblit Beam at a player. Where that player was at the time of firing will be where the Oblit Beam will appear. It doesn't follow the player if they're moving.

However, it DOES place the beam targeting in the air if that player is flying, or Ninja/Beast/Hurdle/SJ'ing their way through the air. It's common that a player doesn't even notice they were targeted as they Jump through the target point that was just laid down, but the players beneath him/her wouldn't realize it.

I'd amend your statements above to:

Indeed, we are well aware that the Obliteration Beam targets a player. I have been on numerous runs where the beam area has spawned in mid air, making it difficult for players below to see. The main contributing factor for this is that Anti Matter is flying, especially after his regeneration is prevented at one of the terminals, and players are flying up to attack him. The Obliteration Beam can then target one of these players. (This scenario occurs in addition to people who fly as a regular part of combat). This was what I was referring to with the two points you've quoted.

Please note the list I provided is a quick recap of points discussed at length during the actual runs. I feel confident most will understand what I was referring to. However, apologies if this has lead people to believe the Obliteration Beam fires on Anti Matter. That is incorrect.
