Alternatives to defense
I think high Defense, high Resistance with some sort of mez protection built in like Sonic, and active mitigation are the only choices you have.
I think a phasing build is the only possibility that doesn't neatly fit on any of the above categories, but I'd call that sorta like an active mitigation since it won't always be up, and you'd have to pick and choose your spots. But I don't think that would be anywhere close to as viable as the other 3 choices.
You could always try to build for as much Regen and +HP as possible. Not much mez protection there, but you're regenerating any damage you take.

I think you are better off being a /Pain.
You will have the same resists as Sonic but with some tasty heals and damage buffs.
You will however lose your mez protection but that can be fixed with the Clarion Destiny power.
I think most of us, when building for survivability on our squishies, build for defense, and for good reason. It not only provides the greatest returns in pure survivability, but also grants a sort of pseudo mez and debuff protection. I get bored of always building for defense though so I'm looking for alternatives to mix things up. I know no other option is going to provide the same amount of broad spectrum mitigation. I'm not looking for something equal to defense necessarily, just something that provides meaningful mitigation.
So far I've built a Sonic Resonance Corruptor that I'm quite fond of, and does indeed feel very different from my defense builds. Mez protection, strong resistances, HP cap, and a nice chunk of regen. Once I added Rebirth Destiny this toon feels nigh unkillable.
I'm currently leveling a Pain Dom Corruptor which I expect to be similar, except using Clarion Destiny for mez protection and gaining HP recovery from the secondary.
After that I'm out of ideas. I realize we don't have a whole lot of options for passive damage mitigation, but I'm hoping I missed a good one or two.
So how about it? Anyone got any builds or suggestions for highly survivable Corruptors that are not defense-based?
I should note that I am not looking for active mitigation. It's not that I'm not a fan of it, but there are too many situations where it cannot be reliably applied.
