Broadsword/Dark Armor Scrapper

I've had my BS/DA scrap for some time now, and frankly, i don't understand how i got him to 50 :P the end use is absolutely ridiculous and he's pretty squishy. I just recently made this build in mids

http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...778C7F6733DBB3

can someone shed some light on how to improve the build? i know it aint perfect, but its aimed at getting enough recovery and lowering end cost. btw, this build is made for cardiac Alpha. . .

Future reference, not everyone can easily use the Mid's links. You'll get more and faster responses if you post the entire build with the data chunk.

BS/DA is one the sturdiest builds available to scrappers. You've really over slotted some powers and under slotted others. Specifically, you've over slotted your resistance toggles and under slotted Dark Regeneration.

You'v skipped Parry, which dramatically improves your survivablility. You also skipped Death Shroud, and important source of AoE damage and endurance management.

Much of your build is bit of a mish mash. You need to decide if you want to pursue a typed defense or a positional build. Either direction is viable but each has it's limitation. Both are very effective.

While were at it, did you go Cardiac alpha slot, or do you intend to? Do you have Atlas and Portal Jockey accolades?

This jumped out at me.

YOU. SKIPPED. PARRY.

Parry, all by itself, will double, or even triple your survivability.

And Death Shroud will actually IMPROVE your endurance consumption, not make it worse.

Why?

Because while you're fighting ONE enemy, all the others around you are taking damage. What that means is that you will have to use fewer of your endurance sucking Broadsword attacks to take them out.

I don't have much time here, so I'll try and take a look at your build when I get home from work. I have the feeling you did some rather goofy things with it, and I can offer some advice (I have a BS/DA softcapped to all positions, with sustainable endurance, that cost me less than 500 million to build, so I know a thing or two about building them)

Werner and Desmodos would be good people to ask as well. And Dechs Kaison can help on the Dark Armor part, if not necessarily the Broadsword part.

I don't know if Werners KAT/DA build would have enough +RCH for a BS/DA to use, but it could be something to look into if you're willing to go all out.

Since I can't see builds without the data chunk (the link never works for me) I have no idea how much you're willing to spend.

That said, friend in my SG has Werner's KAT/DA build on her's, minus the +3 HOs and is only missing 1 Enzyme, and is loving the build.

Parry is pretty important. I know it's not a lot of damage but it's a metric tone of melee defence. It's also stackable with itself.

Good luck. Have fun... there is body mastery at 41 for your endurance woes and a tailor made endo reducing/damage resist increasing alpha incarnate ability at 50.

I have 47.5% global in my build. I'd personally run the two-parry Broad Sword chain, even though the build soft caps with one, because I like the safety net. Head Splitter -> Parry -> Disembowel -> Hack -> Parry takes 108% recharge in Head Splitter, and everything else is already handled by the global recharge. Head Splitter recharges fast enough with the existing slotting.

For one Parry, I think you want Head Splitter -> Hack -> Disembowel -> Parry -> Hack. That takes 219% recharge in Hack, so yeah, no way.

Yeah, links don't work for me either, so I can't really comment on the build.

Yay! It's always a little worrying when someone adopts something like this, because a soft-capped Sword/Dark is kind of a different beast, and not all of the differences are good (in my case - poor slotting of Cloak of Fear, poor recharge on Dark Regeneration, very so-so damage output, etc.).

With even-level Hamios, you're only at 44.8% ranged and AoE, and maybe not quite sustainable endurance, but it would be REALLY hard to notice the difference. I'm just obsessed.

Read this thread: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=189427

I didn't get a chance to check out the build, but that thread discusses BS/DA and Kat/DA extensively. The pros and cons of a positional softcapped build are examined, and there are several builds in it.

It's not quite up to date (i18 or so), but most of the information in it is still relevant. One major difference not discussed in the thread is the fact that I'm using Eradication on my live build for the +End, ranged defense, +HP and AoE defense (you also get a debt protection bonus, but that's pretty irrelevant)
