Can I respec without messing up my power trays?
Nope. The best you can do is /cleartray (which removes all power icons from your tray, while preserving macros) and put everything back where it was before. I typically do this by taking a screenshot, opening it up max-screen-size, and then comparing before-and-after with the game post-respec.

I take a picture of my trays with my smart phone, so I can put things back where I expect them on a respec.
I used to take sceenshots in game of the trays and post them into my graphics program, and flip back and forth between windows, but I find the phone cam is better.

Yup screenies here too...but I print them out (I scale em up) so I can have the reference right in front of me soo I can align the trays back the way they were.

i just write the order of the trays down.
The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.
If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-
I divided the trays into powertype zones, and when I finish the respect I start to populate then again...
Zones? What does it means?
Well, thinking on tray 1 (bottom). Its the offensive tray. My primary Attacks and direct attacks normally go here... STs on the beginning, then Cones, then AoEs. Up to power 8. Powers 9 and 10 are movement Slots. Why? Because I use a Razer Naga, and I access those powers using the mouse keyboard.
Toggles are Tray 3...
Assorted special commands (Mastermind Pets, Secondary Mutation, Mystical Fortune) are on Tray 4. If the toon isnt a Mastermind, I also fit here some Costume Code Changes...
Enhanced movement effects (Quick Spring, Jump pack, P-D vip card, Mission Transporter, Team Assemble, O-Portal) goes on Tray 5.

Yes. I can get lost on a straight-line map.
I pretty much arrange all my trays (for 60+ alts) in the same way. And oddly enough, the order is much the same as KJayMM, except that I keep all movement, including all the various TP powers (Ouro Portal, Vet Base Teleporter, WW 'porters, Pocket D VIP Pass, etc.) in a Tray 4 I pin along the right side of my screen.

On a related issue I also wish we could 'lock' specific powers when respeccing. On a higher level character chances are that I'll want most of the powers slotted up the way I already have them, so it would be nice to be able to have those frozen during the respec and only change/reslot the powers I want to.

The really annoying thing is that I'm coming back to this after being away for several issues, and I'm going to have to respec literally almost every character I have to take advantage of these changes. It's an annoying process as it is, not made any easier by this tray rigamarole. :/

I take the "Trays have specific roles" approach to my layout, too. My three main trays are powers that are part of my build proper, as well as inherent abilities. First tray is mostly for attack powers, with the zero slot being a self-heal power. Second tray is toggles, with a "panic button" power in the zero slot. Third tray is usually taken up by epic pool powers, travel toggles, Rest, etc, with the zero slot left empty for temporary powers to appear in so I don't have to go into the powers menu to find them.
I have all 9 trays open in my UI layout (I love having a widescreen monitor), and they have their purposes as well.
* Tray 4 is for Incarnate abilities on my two mains, which I have bound to my numpad keys for easy use. This is also the tray where I drag mission-critical temporary powers (like the acids or grenades during a Lambda trial).
* Trays 5 and 6 are Veteran Rewards and other account-wide bonus powers like the ones from the boosters.
* Tray 7 is for Accolade powers and others earned through gameplay, like the Oroborous Portal.
* Tray 8 holds my day job powers.
* And finally, Tray 9 is where I keep my temporary powers.

Is there any way to save the arrangement of my trays so they don't get screwed up when I respec? I'm using most of my trays, have them arranged JUST how I want them, and will go nuts if I have to start from scratch again.
