I sincerely hope they upgrade the servers before F2P

because I really cannot see how things are not going to be worse. I realize I have an older PC. However ever since Issue 18 the lag has the worst I have ever seen. I never lagged and had so many mapserves. Even playing on my wife's Mac which is a far better machine that mine there are mapserve and lag issues.

Today after waiting 35 minutes to get a Lambda and getting it started I was mapserved loggin in.. Quit to screen, logged back in.. tried to rejoin.. mapserved AGAIN..

Sometimes even when I dont have issue the team has completed objectives even before I get on the map..

I cannot imagine how bad Freedom and Virtue will be.. I started playing on Justice and over the years transitioned to Virtue as friends and SG mates moved there. When the F2P crowd comes in and sees that those two server are often yellow and red they wll assume thats where he most people are join there and place even MORE load on an already loaded server..

Seriously I hope there is a plan to deal with this massive change to the game ( which I think is for the good in the long run btw )

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

You'd be better served posting this in the Tech forum and phrasing it as a question. What you describe has nothing to do with the processing power of your computer and all to do with connectivity issues, which may either be related to the server you're on (sometimes, servers grow unstable and eventually crash), or to something on your end of the connection, or the worst case scenario - something on a hub between you and the server, which is out of anyone's control.

I'm not saying that the servers shouldn't be upgraded, but what I AM saying is that there may be things you can do to improve your gaming experience, and I'd strongly suggest you try doing that whether or not a server upgrade happens.

Actually I found it helpful to increase RAM on my end. I was wanting more anyway and it's helped. There are still some real issues but I believe the Dev's have mentioned new upgrades are coming.

I've been having solid problems with mapservering since I6. I could work around it by putting my computer in my routers DMZ. This was clearly a problem on my end with my router.

The netgear router I had finally died about 3 months ago and I had to buy a new one. Guess what? I haven't had a mapserver problem with COX since then. Not one.

Since there isn't an increase in complaints about mapserver error since I18 you may want to consider that your modem or router may be failing and need to be replaced. Mapserver errors seem to be a distinct symptom of that kind user hardware failure.

I think it's at your end somewhere. I do a lot of trials. The only time I ever crashed in one was back on the first day of the ORIGINAL trials. The only lag I ever had was on large teams in the BAF and that was eventually fixed. I have yet to crash or mapserve even once in the Keyes trial.

I didn't read the rest of the thread, so maybe something was said... But talk to your ISP. Since you're noticing issues on two computers with different specs, it's quite likely that it is a connection issue possibly caused by a router, or modem, or your ISP might be throttling your connection. Ask them if they are doing anything like that and if not, ask them to send a tech out and test your modem/router.
