It's TF, selected more or less arbitrarily for a period of Tuesday-Monday. Since it's a TF, obviously, it cannot be soloed unless you have friends that want to help you start it. There are always either two TFs (one hero or one villain) or one that's co-op.

When you complete the TF for the first time in a given week on a given character, you get an extra half-level's worth of XP bonus if you are below 50. You also get an extra number of Merits equal to the number of Merits the TF is usually worth (this means double Merits for most TFs, or an Incarnate component + regular merits for level 50 TFs). Finally, if you are an Incarnate, you also get a Notice of the Well, which is required for creating Rare and Very Rare Alpha abilities.

Every time after the first that you do the WST in a given week, you don't get any of the bonus rewards, but you do get credit to badges for replaying said TF (the highest level is for 50 times, but these can be accumulated over several weeks). Also, you can't receive a double bonus by doing a hero TF, then changing sides and doing the villainside SF for that week.

Hope that clears things up!

Every week since issue 19 a new task force/strikeforce or a single coop TF is selected. For that week; the first time a character completes it they get a reward depending on level:
1-49: They get from 1/3 to 2/3 a level worth of xp.
50: Notice of the well, a piece necessary to create tier 3 or higher Alpha Incarnate enhancements.

So, no, you probably can't solo it.

Bah Laz beat me to it and explained it better.

Some of the Weekly Task Forces have been Manticore Task Force and Sister Psyche Task Force. Also Numina, can't remember if Citadel's cropped up. But those are certainly soloable by a well built character, if you find enough friends to help you start it. (At least one other has to remain on the TF although they can log out.)

Speaking of which, it is past time for July's strike targets to be announced.

Actually its an extra merit bonus, lots of xp and inf. If you're level fifty, instead of XP, you get it converted to inf like everything else. If you have the alpha slot unlocked you get a notice of the well in addition to all of that, not just if you have it at level 50.

One note is that threw a few people is if you run the WST one week and get the rewards before you have the alpha slot unlocked, you cannot run the same WST again that week after you unlocked the alpha slot to get the notice. You'll have to wait until the next week.

Nope. The longer and/or harder the target is, the more bonus XP it awards. Conversely, if they select a really easy target (say, Katie Hannon?), they can make it award less bonus XP.

That's not strictly true any more. Alpha slot enhancements can also be crafted with the salvage from the Incarnate trials now. A Notice of the Well can also be converted to a big bunch of threads too (40, I think?).

This is one of my pet peeves. A player shouldn't have to resort to the forums for this information. It's an important in game activity and the info needs to be IN THE GAME. How about making it part of the Message of the Day upon logging in?

Freedom: Blazing Larb, Fiery Fulcrum, Sardan Reborn, Arctic-Frenzy, Wasabi Sam, Mr Smashtastic.

Or a contact you can call (Prometheus perhaps?) who gives you the current and next weeks WST.

Example:

Greetings $HeroName I have searched the strands of fate and it is my belief that Manticore's activities in routing Crey out of Brickstown represent a critical juncture in the timeline. You will find it to your benefit to aid him in this endeavor/Your assistance in this endeavor was much appreciated (depending on if you've done the WST yet).

However, the strands of fate are always in motion. The Lady Grey's efforts to repulse the Rikti in the Rikti War Zone have met with some success and she will need your help to continue her mission but the time is not yet right...

It is worth noting that if you have a character capable of soloing a TF, you can indeed solo the WST.

You still have to have enough people on the team to start one, after which all but one can quit, while the last just logs out while remaining on the TF.

I'd love it to be in-game and MotD is the perfect place, however I like to know well in advance what it is going to be next week so that SG activities can be planned.

They used to announce a month's set of targets the Wednesday or Thursday before the 1st but June's didn't get posted until the 6th I think. I REALLY REALLY want them to announce it earlier than that - like yesterday for July. I hope they get it out today because with Monday being a holiday in the U.S. there is a chance that it won't be announced at all before it goes live Tuesday morning.
