You should not need both an EU and NA version of Beta and Test.
Nor Live, now, I would think.
As far as I know, the old Start/Stop/Copy trick should still work.

With the GSM, I think your point is true but are the test and beta servers still different? I thought I read something about the EU Keyes event being canceled last month or this month earlier.
Honestly, it just doesn't matter to me anymore. My diskspace is just too valuable and I'm tired of having to patch this monster. One client is enough for me.
The EU event was /is to be on the same server as the NA event - it was just going to be a different time. However, it was moved due to issues with the Luancher, Account Status, and the copy tool.

It was a timing thing, to make it less 4AM in the morning-ish for the EU folks.
At the time of the Keyes Reactor event, the servers were the same for both sides.

You only "need" three installations: (you only NEED one installation)
CoH Live (used to be two: EU and NA)
CoH Test (used to be two: EU and NA)
CoH Beta (has only ever been one)
- through these three you can access both EU and NA accounts. You may or may not need to change your location flag in the Launcher options, but I think that only affects links. (Drop dead tired so I can't test it myself)

Starting this Monday the 20th ascend will be moving from beta to the test server anyway. Likewise beta will shutdown on the 17th.
I went in the test server this morning and could not access the 20.5 Stuff. How or where do I join the Keyes Trial. It's in the LFG Queue, right? I access the LFG and it only showed the two trials.
