Random thought from a MoBarracuda run last night

So an sgmate of mine has been trying to get the MoLGTF and MoBarracuda badges for a while now. Last night I got in a team with him and got the MoLGTF badge...then (one BAF later for me), we got a team for the MoBarracuda (a team of 6 I believe).

All was going well and we got to the last mission. We cleared all the mobs and defeated the 4 AVs; which after we got our temp. powers, Reichs pops-up.

Our plan was to just go into the "T" intersection of the caves and await the ambushes there and that way we can get the Mo badge "easily" without worrying about all the ambushes.

I actually did this with my main months ago (didn't know Reichs got tp'ed back to the room and can't 'escape' to the cavern area). At the time, no one was an incarnate or had powers like that....and to wait for all of the ambushes took 1 hour and 5 minutes (yes I timed it ).

So when we first entered the final mission, the leader (sg mate) made sure everyone was fine with waiting that 1 hour or so just in case. Everyone was fine so we plowed through.

Skip ahead now, we finally attack Reichs. so that the ambushes spawn. We go back to the T intersection and kill all the mobs. Surprisingly we had lots of ambushes come really fast (almost no stop/time to breath which is fine by me ).

Then the ambushes came from the East and some from the West like I expected. Again, it seemed to be all at once. After about 20-30 mins of ambushes, it seemed to stop.

Now of course, I was like, "well there will be more coming....it takes a while..."

Waiting....hmm....even running around through the map and no mobs....okay....maybe the devs changed it so that they did come all at once instead of every 10 mins (or whatever).


Sure enough, we jumped in and started to beat up on Reichs and...no more ambushes. That sure was nice. No 1 hour+ waiting time for all the ambushes


Just curious if that was changed or was it just a 'bug' for us?

It's been like that ever since I ran Barracuda on live servers.

ive been on a few where our team randomly got 0 ambushs, but im fairly certain that there are still mass ambushs when fighting him

it does occasionally bug to where there are few to no ambushs baddies for some random reason, not that im complaining though lol

My understanding is that there's a limited number of ambushes per "threshold" (one being when you first aggro reichsman) but there being multiple thresholds (related to Reichy's health?)

Afaik, he eventually runs out.
Eventually. God I get sick of 5th Column for a good long while after that mission...

Yes that was somewhat my point. The first time that I (and the others) waited for all the ambushes it took 1 hour and 5 minutes. Last night (or two mornings ago actually), it only took like 20-30 mins. (and some of that was just waiting before we attacked Reichs.).

Just seemed odd that it was that 'random'....but seeing a few people post that they have had differences too makes me feel like it's 'random'...

Rumor I heard was 3 ambushes per team members (or spawn setting).

I have been on a team where we defeated him so fast that only one ambush had showed up. 1 Crab, 1 Tank, 1 Merc/Dark MM, 3 Rad Corr, 1 Kin Corr, and 1 Dom.
