Are there any known bugs associated with this badge? Do you not get credit if the level difference is too great? Do you get full credit for each one killed by your teammates?

I've never had a problem with this badge. The gears they're talking about are the ones that spawn after killing a clockwork boss.

Like all other badges, any colour (including grey) enemies always count towards badges. Like Shred said though, gears only ever spawn from bosses.

More correctly, clockwork Princes (which may or may not be boss rank).

Kills by your teammates on the same map as you count, even if they are too far away to award any XP.

Run the Synapse TF - pretty much a promise at the badge even if you start from zero (each prince spawns 3-5 gears).

Also, I'm fairly sure the badge doesn't count Psychic Clockwork gears.

Thanks, guys. I've earned it a bunch of times, but there must be some issue with my current toon. It finally registered 21 (after hundreds), so hopefully it's worked out now.

All true. And usually you can start the Synapse with no gear defeats at all and by the end of mission one on an 8 man team (mission one being one of MANY defeat alls) you have the badge. Its also quite possible on either the OLD POSI TF (through Ouro Flashback) or the New Posi Tf to get them even before you are high enough to do a Synapse. Oh and a gear is a gear.. Some lieutenants also spawn them when they die and while the BADGE says they have to come from a boss the gears from a lieutenant count.

And I can personally confirm that the Psychic Clockwork found in Tina McCintyre's arc in PI don't count toward the badge. I thouight they might years ago and when my progress bar didn't move I headed to Skyway and hunted them until I got the badge. I guess since those belong to an alternate dimension the don't count. The same is true of toxic Tarantuals that are part of the ROGUE group you battle in one arc in Grandville and i believe its also true of the ones in Warburg. The rogues are no longer a part of the arachnos army so for some reason THEY don't count and the ones you see in Warburg all seem to have been converted and belong to Malta. Funny they LOOK exactly the same LOL

There is a low level mish that has one of those piles of parts that kick them out every few seconds. Does anybody remember that mish? And more importantly, is it in Oro? I know this has NOTHING to do with the OP, Im just curious.

I always go to parez park by the lake and kill princes/gears. I usually do this about level 41-43 (right after I finish killing the 100 fake nemisis). If you move fast and have a bind to help find targets you can go from about 0 to 100 in 30 minutes easy on about any toon.

Took me a little research time on Paragon Wiki but I knew which mission you meant...

http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki/Template:Mission_Common_Get_a_sample_of_the_Clockw ork_pistons

Its in the 15-19 level range and you get it from Wyatt Anderson, Maggie green, Jake Montoya or Colleen Saramago. unfortunately its not part of an arc but a solo mission so you can't really access it through ouro. I have used that once or twice to get gearsmasher. until you destroy the pilke of parts in the building gears just keep spawning!

I find this one of the easiest badges to get, Clockwork bosses will spawn at least 4 baby gears when they die. Bosses are usually found in plenty of TF's and clockwork missions. If I havent got from the above, I usually go to Perez Park like Shred Monkey, Clock bosses can be found in Sky also.

There is always a lot to be thankful for, if you take the time to look. For example, I'm sitting here thinking how nice it is that wrinkles don't hurt. ~Author Unknown

I so enjoyed being chased down elevators by a hoard of gears from the Box of Parts way back during the good old days. It was one of those WTF moments when the elevator goes ding and gears started to pour out while resting. This of course was just after the devs added the chase through elevator code.

Smart buggers they are. Figuring out they can climb on each other - or else how would they reach the buttons?

LOL Yeah I do recall that happening to me as well. I was getting swamped and figured.. I'll just head downstairs and heal. I was on one knee slowly recovering when "DING" and a pile of gears sent me to the hospital. I came back and got revenge but maybe that mission needs a warning sign at the door..

ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK Clockwork Gears know how to use elevators and will follow you to the ends of the earth. Legal fine print: Be aware that the Clockwork King and CW Enterprises INC. is not liable for any permanent damage to player's characters or personal REAL LIFE sanity when Gears suddenly follow you to another floor and continue to attempt to kill you. Enjoy the game and have a nice day.

The Gears in that Box of Parts mission kicked my first Controller's ***. I could bearly kill one or two Gears before I had to bolt with an empty endurance bar and health in the blinking red. Eventually, the continuous spawns created such a mass of them that I couldn't even approach them without taking heavy damage on only bearly backing off. I actually had to ask my brother to bring in a high level character to help me clear it. I didn't know how to build a Controller for damage at the time, and it was pre-Containment and pre-Vet attacks powers too.
