Is the hospital unique to COx ?

Is the concept of going to the hospital or rezzing in a base unique to COx ? In my experience all other games have this really annoying "run back to your body" thing.
I tried to research this on the web, but couldn't seem to get the right terminology to search for the history of this type of feature in an mmorpg.

Nope. As far as ones that transport your body -
- Guild wars has resurrection "stations."
- Aion has you either being able to rez on site or going back to a "soul healer" (with cost.)
- Anarchy Online... actually, I don't remember any more.
- I *believe* STO rezzed you in a safe spot, at least in PVE/instances.

Going outside of MMOs, well, most "body runs" are to get your stuff back. And sometimes gold/XP. I want to say more recent ones have avoided that (I don't THINK it was done in Borderlands, for instance.) And that's ignoring ones like L4D that just respawn you (or if on a team, respawn you in a place to be "rescued," but without your stuff.)

A certain multi-player fantasy RP game set in a famous Faerunian city had you rezzing in a temple but that isn't an MMO. I only mention it because it is basically identical to COH except you lost current experience instead of future experience and you didn't even do that if a party member resurrected you.

I don't have any experience with other MMO's but I know a friend of mine used to complain about the body thing back when they played one of the early fantasy MMO's.

I think mentioning game names is taboo so I won't.

Bill you are awesome ! Thanks for the info.
Didn't mean to cause any hassle by mentioning names of other MMO's... just really was curious about the "feature" itself.

Thanks again.

Anarchy Online has Insurance Terminals that insure your XP. So playing for 2 hours and dying without using the Insurance Terminal would make you lose all the XP you gained for that play session.

STO has respawn points.

The first step in being sane is to admit that you are insane.

Yeah, Borderlands (just started Playthrough 2 of my main sends you back to the nearest New-U station with all of your gear. Costs a decent chunk of cash, however.

I didn't see mentioned a certain other superhero genre MMO which Cryptic released recently, which I believe also uses hospitals.

Fallen Earth and Star Wars: Galaxies use cloning stations which in essence are the same thing.
