Yes, yes you should.

And you should definitely go Brute.

Do you really want to say no to 3000 to 3200 HP and the opportunity to have a 90% Res cap as well as Darkest Night with Dark Consumption to help you run it?

Or I could level my Invulnerability/Dark Melee Tanker and be even more insanely survivable. Jeez, I can't keep track of everything. Let's see what I have...
L33 Invulnerability/Dark Melee Tanker
L33 Dark Melee/Invulnerability Brute
L28 Dark Melee/Invulnerability Scrapper
I've been fiddling with a build for an Invuln/Dark Tanker recently, and not even for myself. I'd forgotten I even had one. I don't have it QUITE nailed down yet, but it looks like I'll be able to hit the incarnate soft cap to everything but psionic with just one enemy in range if I go Barrier (and psionic at over 30%). Chances are I'd go Rebirth, but it'll depend on what the numbers (or experience) tells me. Chances are I'll never have a top end Tanker, though, since I'm not really much for Tanking. Surviving I like, but I play my Tankers like I play my Scrappers, which is to say you don't want me Tanking for a team.

I should probably level all of them at the same time, and see which one I get most attached to.

Well, there are a lot of similarities, probably because I was using your Scrapper build as reference. More comments and the build I've been fiddling with over in that thread so we don't derail this one further.

Point taken, but still I am a player who prefers all possible defense softcapped. Except Psi, but it's a pain in the donkey...

Even then I prefer to a) focus on S/L first and b) not rely on DA or Parry to land to get defense. Not becuase it's not viable, it is, I just prefer to go in and not worry about clicking X to maintain Y. I just want it to work all the time.

Funny that I still like SD and SR despite this...

Invuln for Brutes, and DM for Brutes, is is one of those sweet spots where the survivability advantages the Brute gains over the scrapper and the offensive advantages the Brute gains over the Tanker allow the Brute AT to truly shine. Not all primary/secondary pairings work out as well.

i20, in addition to bruising, has added a lot of ST potential for Tankers. Bruising + one of the T4 reactives should allow for some pretty interesting results.

SR has best mez protection in the game part of reason why I couldn't play any other set is because constnat knoch down knock up hold sleep etc thrown at me.

Huh? Are you saying you're getting knocked down, held and slept with other Scrapper secondaries? Knocked down I can see, because a few secondaries don't protect against that, which is why you supplement them with other powers or IOs. But held and slept? What's holding and sleeping you? With what secondary? Or are you comparing your Super Reflexes Scrapper to your Blaster or something?

Because basically, unless you double stack the mez protection on Super Reflexes, it isn't superior. And I pretty much never get held or slept on any Scrapper secondary. Sometimes stunned in the mid levels when fighting a big crowd of uplevel Tsoo, I think the ones with the pink pom-poms.

SR does give you confuse protection which not a lot of other secondaries offer, and that's pretty useful in the BAF trial.

As for the PB double stacking benefits, the only place I can think of where that's useful is in the Nictus Rommie fight at the end of the ITF, when he rezzes.

While correct, kangstor said

"...other set is because constnat knoch down knock up hold sleep etc thrown at me."

Which leaves out Confuse entirely.

And he would still be wrong if he was talking about Confuse protection being his idea of 'the best mez protection in the game', because both WP and SD provide that as well.

I meant knock up and down for scrappers and sleep and hold for other AT's sorry for confusion.

Even with the Status Protections, Shield Defense does it better. Not only does it have Confuse protection, it also has two more that SR does not have: Fear and Repel. Again, another set that is superior to Super Reflexes in the realm of high end builds. 4c3Player did mention they are now considering Broadsword, and that set goes very well with Shield Defense. Obviously the downfall for Shield Defense here is that it does not get to be paired with some primary sets. I am curious to know if a Katana/SR or a BS/SD would do more damage, in both AoE and ST.

Another Defense set that we don't even have yet is Ninjitsu, and that too has Confuse and Fear protection.

bass as you may know i have a SS/SD Brute that I LOVE so if you think a BS/SD will do good then i would be very willing to do that instead of invul or SR, besides BS looks very cool with SD

If I had to guess, I'd say it depends on the amount of targets around you, with BS having more DPS after having AAO saturated by a moderate amount of targets. Something to keep in mind though is that Katana's better base DPS would get more out of damage bonuses(from sets and assault), and SR's "easy to softcap" nature gives it more room for those.

Shield Defense is just plain fun to play! BS/SD makes a character look so complete, and by complete I mean completely badass! I have two BS/SD characters that share 99% of the same build and love playing them both, simply because of their character themes and how BS/SD performs. With that said, you won't be experiencing double stacking +Damage like you would with DM/SD or SS/SD.

You will for the ten seconds Build Up lasts.

I really like the BS/SD pairing.

10 seconds every, what, 25 on a high end Recharge build? I guess that's alright.

ok so i made this build real quick, pick it apart if youd like ( i would apreciate it) i went with cardiac because im sure the build would have endurance problems without it, and i love not worrying about my endurance at all.

Goals: Softcap area DEF,Managable Endurance, fast and deadly

Are you willing to get PvP and Purple IOs?

This build has good Endurance management, softcapped positional Defense with 1 application of Parry putting Melee at the Incarnate softcap, Build Up + Shield Charge up in 24s, good Regeneration and even better when paired with the Destiny power Rebirth Radial Epiphany, single target attack chain of Hack>Disembowel>Hack>Head Splitter, and AoE attack chain of Slice>Whirling Sword>Slice>Headsplitter. One with the Shield can be paired with Conserve Power to mitigate the 60% Endurance crash. Should be nearly or at the Defense Debuff Resist cap. Achilles' Heel -Res in Hack and a Damage proc in every attack, stack with Interface of Reactive Radial Flawless.

I have two high level SD toons, a BS/SD Scrapper (My highest level scrapper, at 40) and a SD/SS Tanker at 50.

SD/SS is a fun set as well, as is, I imagine, SS/SD Brutes.
