Other than that, damn cool.

EDIT: Actually... do you mind if I borrow some of that for THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE? (Especially the "we're eating at every Up-And-Away place, and Raymond having the spreadsheet for it" thing) That just works amazingly well with how I've got Steve written there.

I had no idea why I kept calling Synapse Barry instead of Steve. At least I wasn't calling him Dave, after Rodney. (Points for the reference.)

And sure, feel free to borrow it!

Only Fools and Horses

At least I don't ship anyone in this game, but keep your hands from arbiter Sands - he is MINE!

Well, that's understandable - it'd be dumb to mess with Lanaru's lover.

Wouldn't the fact that Fusionette and Faultline are pretty hot and heavy by the time you hit the RWZ (after the blatantly obvious tension in the zone named after Temblor's dad) make Statesline an irrational ship by your own definition? :P

Yes - which is why I never treated it seriously

One off images or pages are ok for humor, but I'd never put something like that into an actual comic - I like to obey the lore

Yeah, I know the Statesline thing is a gag.

On a more serious note, I don't think shipping States with anyone (at all) is really valid. After all, the love of his life was Monica Cole (nee Richter), aka Maiden Justice. After she died of old age (while Marcus looked as youthful as he did when he first drank of the Well), he became too detached to think of anyone as a potential romance.

Tonight at dinner, thought of the superhero name for Numitron's love-child:

Geigergeist.

Apparently studied German.

Where to find me after the end:
The Secret World - Arcadia - Shinzo
Rift - Faeblight - Bloodspeaker
LotRO - Gladden - Aranelion
STO - Holodeck - @Captain_Thiraas

Obviously, I don't care about NCSoft's forum rules, now.

The Recluse Strike Force and Statesman's reaction to Ms. Liberty's defeat shows that Statesman is still human enough to love and care for people.

And one of my very favorite Rogue Tip Missions shows that Statesman aka "Mister Holier Than Thou" still has a sense of humor.

And there was definitely a hint of romance between Psyche and Statesman at the beginning of the game: States, not Manti, was the one who stayed constantly at Shalice's bedside after she was injured in the Rikti War.

And even if Marcus wishes to stay away from mortal women this time, there are plenty of women in the game who possess prolonged lifespans: Lady Gray, Georgia Fields, Shadowstar, Serafina ... heck, there's even a goddess that makes an appearance Redside.

Potentially, he could even date Luminary.

True, there are widows and widowers who never remarry after their spouse dies, but there are also others who do find love more than once in their lives.

Eternity is an awfully long time to be alone.

Personally, I'm of the opinion that it would do Marcus some good to have some connections back to the mundane world. Heroism in the abstract can be a dangerous thing.

I always got the vibe of Statesman seeing the Freedom Phalanx as his family, rather than anything romantic. So it'd be more like he was staying up all night at his daughter's bedside.

Excuse me for phrasing it like this, but, "Duh!" Ms. Liberty is his granddaughter. Of course he's going to love and care for her!

That's totally different than being in detached from humanity in general, especially romantically. Familial bonds don't work the same way.

Might as well say, "They do in the apple tree", because it has just as much relevance.

This is actually why I had no problem doing a video for a friend of mine whose character is in love with Statesman. Whether it's requited or not is still up in the air, but they are at least friends and rather close, at that.

I'm going to argue the point that the fact that Statesman Marcus CAN still feel something for someone else shows that he's not beyond falling in love again.

Emperor Cole ... I would argue that one of Emperor Cole's problems is that there's no one he does love. He may still value humanity's survival in the abstract, but he's willing to shed an ocean of blood to ensure that.

I can see Statesman falling in love again. I can't see Tyrant doing the same thing.

I think you are right in that Statesman may have become more detached from humanity than he was while Monica lived; I don't agree that he's gone past the point of no return yet.
